Siblings Pair Up for Balmain

July 17th, 2015 |Posted by Irene Ojo-Felix

Balmain explores the intimacy between siblings for their latest collection for Fall/Winter 2015. This time around Mario Sorrenti captures the connections between sister and brother model duos Armando and Fernando Cabral, Bella and Gigi Hadid, Erika and Joan Smalls, and Kylie and Kendall Jenner. There’s no rivalry here with the pairs giving each other a helping hand by applying lip-liner or providing a supporting rest. The familial love brings another meaning of power and strength to the fabulous Balmain Army that Olivier Rousteing has assembled.

Olivier Rousteing‘s vision for Balmain has always been about powerful, provocative women so it seems natural to see his Spring/Summer campaign filled with supermodels. Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, Isabeli Fontana, Rosie Huntington Whiteley and newcomer Crista Cober join forces to play video games and eat cheeseburgers in Mario Sorrenti‘s (Art Partner) action packed ads for Balmain. Sorrenti never fails to bring energy to his images and this time around he makes the usually elegant cast engage in a little combat. If kicking and screaming supers isn’t your idea of a good time fear not, the subtler images have the beauties duking it out via Nintendo rather than clawing each others eyes out. The art direction by Pascal Dangin adds another layer of enjoyment, with patterns and colors perfectly coordinating even as the punches are thrown.

Olivier Rousteing‘s vision for Balmain has always embraced a global view of fashion and his fall show merged a diverse series of cultural influences into an arresting collection. For the corresponding campaign Mario Sorrenti (Art Partner) shoots the stunning cast of Jourdan Dunn, Cara Delevingne, Leona Binx Walton, Ysaunny Brito, Issa LishJackson Hale and newcomer Kayla Scott for a series of beautiful images that bring to life the intensity of Rouseteing’s designs. Art directed and styled by Katie Grand the campaign also serves to presents a modern view of what a brand can be, “I could not be more happy with this campaign.” says Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing “It illustrates my vision of the house. These six different women, from such an incredible mix of backgrounds, are all united to present what a modern French house can be. This campaign both reflects today’s realities and the possibilities of the fashion world.”

Campaign Candy

January 25th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Appealing new ads from fashion’s young, innovative designers.

The S/S ads from Proenza are all about a dreamy mood and David Sims‘ imagery featuring the cooler than thou duo of Julia Nobis and Irina Nikolaeva creates a strong, yet ethereal vibe that goes well with the brand’s eclectic Tumblr influenced collection. The mismash of visual styles and inspirations found on the social media site are mirrored in Sims’ colorful, collage approach to the campaign.

Even before Olivier Theyskens took the helm at Theory the brand was about the kind of effortlessly beautiful clothes that girls want to wear. Now that Theyskens is heading things, the famed designer has added an appealingly cool vibe to the collections and the line’s seasonal imagery. Girl of the moment, Wylie Hays is front and center in Willy Vanderperre (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists)’s stark shots as is a highly covetable new Theory handbag.

Phillip Lim hits the streets with a stylish campaign that shows you just how much his designs stand out. Katryn Kruger and Franzi Mueller strut down crowded NYC sidewalks in head to toe Lim working those chic Spring patterns and bringing the punky 3.1 look to life in Alessio Bolzoni‘s ad images.

Balmain keeps it simple with a beautiful David Sims campaign featuring Manon Leloup. When you have a beautiful girl and the intricately decadent designs of Olivier Rousteing, you don’t need much more to entice your audience.
