Solaire

November 22nd, 2013 |Posted by victoria

Txema Yeste captures Martha Hunt with his extraordinary artistic technique in the latest issue of Numéro Magazine. Perfectly styled by Franck Benhamou, Hunt looks absolutely radiant in ‘Solaire’, along with her impeccable bone structure highlighted throughout the editorial. Also, the heavy winged eye makeup and famed feathered Gucci dress leaves us to believe there may have been some ‘Black Swan’ inspiration behind this stunning shoot.

Tough Enough

August 28th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Bad girls do it well in the pages of Numero‘s September issue. Greg Kadel unleashes a sexy and in your face story styled by Elizabeth Sulcer, featuring the season’s hardcore looks. While only the most daring fashionistas will take to the streets in bondage gear and studded masks, the story’s mix of Chanel, Fendi and Tom Ford is sure to appeal to luxe lovers from all walks of life. Even the most vanilla fashionistas can appreciate the appeal of black leather and thigh high boots as worn by the stunning Larissa Hofmann.

Liza with a Z

July 15th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Fashion editorials are notorious for seeking inspiration in the form of cultural icons. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but some celebrity homages have been done to death – how many times have you seen a story centered around Grace Jones, Marilyn Monroe or Brigitte Bardot? It is always nice when a magazine chooses a theme that is slightly less overdone, so it’s a treat to open up Numero and find a colorful tribute to Liza Minnelli circa Cabaret. Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello transform Elisabeth Erm into a modern day Sally Bowles complete with sequins and feather boas selected by Samuel Francois, a touch of blue eyeshadow courtesy of Rie Omoto (See Management) and that signature black bob coifed by Romina Manenti (See Management). Elisabeth may lack Liza’s musical skills and that famous nose, but she pulls off the look admirably in Sanchez & Mongiello’s vivid images.

Erotica

July 12th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Txema Yeste creates an erotically charged fashion fantasy with Jac Jagaciak in the pages of Numero. Styled in revealing jet black looks by Franck Benhamou and sporting short, gamine hair Jac takes on a whole new persona. The strong, at times androgynous woman she portrays in this story  is a striking change from the way she’s usually photographed and she pulls the look off with aplomb, conveying the right mix of sensuality and confidence in all her images. Yeste’s saturated color palette and the stark assortment of ensembles make for a thrilling tribute to the season’s obsession with powerdressing.

Lusting Over Luss

June 28th, 2013 |Posted by models.com

Sasha Luss (and her glass-cutting cheekbones) seem to be everywhere these days- and we can’t get enough! Luss turns heads on Numeros most recent cover, and inside the magazine the spotlight is undoubtedly on her edgy editorial- showing a different side of the sophisticated model. In ‘Born to Be Wild’ Luss works the camera looking like punk-rock perfection in the artistic shoot by Anthony Maule.

Bowery Girl

June 12th, 2013 |Posted by models.com

Numero is back this month with yet another issue of avant-garde styles to obsess over. Highly anticipated each month for its unique editorial content, it’s no surprise that this month’s “Bowery Girl” editorial, featuring the Bulgarian beauty, Kremi Otashliyska, is the glam grunge we love. Stylist Bill Mullen pairs edgy prints and distressed fabrics, while photographer Greg Kadel works with Otashliyska from all angles to capture the city-inspired essence of the “Bowery Girl”.

Seeing Spots

May 30th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

When Haider Ackermann filled his S/S13 runway with transparent creations emblazoned with black and white dots, it seemed like an unusual move. Polka dots are a fashion standard dating back years, but the diminutive patterns are more often associated with the prim styles of the 1950s than with the kinds of cutting-edge wares favored on Paris’ runways. The designer so known for his innovative use of lush, saturated color was showing another side, taking one of the most uncool of motifs and making it feel new.

In keeping with the current craze for all things graphic, stylists have embraced the versatility of these simple circles, working Ackermann’s creations into a variety of editorials. On occasion the interpretations don’t veer too far from the runway approach (fashion abides by the ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ mantra whenever it can) but the excitement comes when the spots are complimented by clashing patterns to create a dynamic visual treat. Whether it is layering in another of Ackermann’s prints from S/S or adding a bold kimono for interest, the real fun lies in the mix which offers stylists an opportunity to show their creativity.
