First Look : Doingbird

November 7th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

With its appealing blend of art, culture and fashion Doingbird never disappoints us and the latest issue looks especially promising. With Marte Mei van Haaster gracing the cover in a striking shot by Benjamin Alexander Huseby, followed by a creepy cool editorial that oozes chic, quite literally. We haven’t seen anything quite like this before and considering the amount of magazines we pour over, that is saying something! Inside you’ll also find exciting new content featuring Julia Nobis and contributions from everyone from Patti Smith and Ruth Hogben to Daniel Jackson and Rick Owens.

Ph. Benjamin Alexander Huseby | Stylist – Melanie Huynh (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists) | Hair – Neil Moodie | Makeup – Petros Petrohilos | Special Effects - Bart Hess

Ph. Max Doyle | Stylist – Naomi Smith | Hair – Eugene Souleiman | Makeup – Justine Purdue

Dark & Lovely

July 25th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

With her long black hair and piercing blue eyes, Kinga Rajzak has become the go-to girl for editorials in need of an eerie touch, but just because she’s everyone’s favorite ultra-cool beauty doesn’t mean she can’t deliver classic elegance when called for. Jem Mitchell‘s dynamic beauty shots for Vogue Japan are dark and brooding, but they’re also a sophisticated showcase for the timeless appeal of a berry lip, or smoky eye created by Petros Petrohilos. Chic styling by Jamie Surman, enhances the story, with gothic pieces from Ann Demeulemeester and lacy Dolce & Gabbana setting the sartoriali mood. Hair genius Neil Moodie ads the final bit of polish, crafting elegantly undone styles for Kinga, that mesh with the woodsy setting and folkloric feel.

Who’s The Fairest?

June 27th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

It doesn’t take much to make Lily Donaldson look lovely but Jem Mitchell goes above and beyond the call of duty, with an appealing beauty story for Vogue Japan. Elegant waves by Neil Moodie, makeup in shades of pale pink by Lloyd Simmonds and some very pristine poses by Ms. Donaldson make for a gorgeous edit.
