See Inside: Let’s Panic Issue 2

July 20th, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

Straddling the margins between art and fashion, Issue 2 of Let’s Panic Magazine is trickling into stands in the U.S.A. now and Europe to follow.  The large format, in-your-face magazine, the project of photographer Greg Kadel, is a collection of inspired editorials, hued from the bold and experimental to the indulgent to the introspective. The thoughtful list of creators and contributors is worthy of praise – Boo George, Mario Sorrenti, Jeff Bark, Jennifer Starr, Judy Blame and Mark Lebon to name a few. On that note, Editor in Chief, Aaron Ward writes, “Of all the steps taken in the creation of an issue of Let’s Panic, the one we most enjoy is the exploratory stage, the part where meetings and conversations introduce us to new people, novel ideas and undiscovered creative twists.”

Inside the magazine, Greg Kadel photographs Jac Jagaciak for a vivid, varicolored beauty story. Shot through water that shifts the light, beauty team Fulvia Farolfi and Nicolas Jurnjack  produce gorgeous tides of blues, rouges and yellows. Editor-slash-photographer Aaron Ward abstractly shoots a model pressed against a pane of glass, to the effect of leaves pressed in a book.  Other editorials breathe life into archival images, like the cover image from Mario Sorrenti’s black-and-white, road trip portraits or casting director Jennifer Starr’s multitude of polaroids.

Hot N’ Steamy

July 22nd, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

As the heatwave sweeps throughout the city Greg Kadel perfectly encapsulates the scorching hot days of summer with a sensual story in the latest Vogue Espana. Most people would wilt beneath the heat and humidity, but Karmen Pedaru maintains her aloofly sexy persona even when clad in F/W’s decorative furs fresh off the runway. The eclectic mix of luxury fashions and barely there bikinis selected by Havana Laffitte adds a touch of carnality to even the most demure catwalk pieces. Celine’s plaid laundry bag inspired prints and Burberry’s glossy boleros take on a whole new aura thanks to Laffitte’s styling.

Numero is back this month with yet another issue of avant-garde styles to obsess over. Highly anticipated each month for its unique editorial content, it’s no surprise that this month’s “Bowery Girl” editorial, featuring the Bulgarian beauty, Kremi Otashliyska, is the glam grunge we love. Stylist Bill Mullen pairs edgy prints and distressed fabrics, while photographer Greg Kadel works with Otashliyska from all angles to capture the city-inspired essence of the “Bowery Girl”.
