Hercules‘ newest issue centers around the idea of realness and the allure of the individual, who better to embody the concept than the always captivating Mariacarla Boscono and ballet sensation Roberto Bolle. The duo sizzles on their cover shot by Paola Kudacki and the exciting image makes us eager to see just what is inside this special edition.

Masquerade

September 27th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Wouldn’t it be nice to go to the Vogue Paris 90th Anniversary ball? If you haven’t received your invite from Carine just yet the latest issue of Vogue Paris might be enough to raise your spirits. The festive theme runs throughout the issue culminating in a stunning editorial by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. VP regulars like Lara Stone, Freja Beha Erichsen, Crystal Renn and Mariacarla Boscono join newcomer Daphne Groeneveld and dance star Roberto Bolle for a visual feast styled by Mme. Roitfeld herself. The graphic black and white images show off some of fall’s most innovative pieces and perfectly capture the vitality we’ve come to expect from Vogue Paris.

Quick Change Artist

July 20th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Mariacarla Boscono, shows her versatility in two dynamic new editorials. First a classic red, black and white Vogue Italia story by Glen Luchford, that gives the always expressive model a chance to show off her posing skills. With a simple look Mariacarla is able to convey power and elegance within her pictures. Next Paolo Roversi , creates an eerie dreamworld for W, featuring Clement Chabernaud and Mariacarla in head to toe Gucci as they explore the dark side of the city together.

Which story do you prefer?

Greystoke

June 28th, 2010 |Posted by Betty

Looks like grey is the new black (again)! Lanvin‘s trio of lovelies, Magdalena Frackowiak, Mariacarla Boscono and Anja Rubik glower fiercely in gunmetal grey for Steven Meisel (read more about Lanvin’s new St. Tropez store here at WWD).  Benetton‘s casting by Michelle Lee is, as usual, divine: multi-culti with some of the freshest faces of the season. The crew, photographed by Josh Olins/styled by Clare Richardson, wears the color enhanced with silver. Hugo Boss does slate with Ben Hill and Sasha Pivovarova fronting the German brand as shot by Cedric Buchet. Looks like there’s something here for everyone in the three campaigns. What’s your favorite grey piece you’ll be picking up for fall?

Hind Sahli, Sharon Kavjian, Abiah Hostvedt, Noma Han, Luis Borges, Ann Kenny, Charlie France and Willy Cartier.

Bits & Bytes: Hanne on a Summery Day

May 21st, 2010 |Posted by Betty

hanne1
Hanne by Andrew. On a lovely Friday in New York, Hanne stops by to see Andrew Weir for a casting.

Photography news:

Unbelievable! David Bailey has worked with British Vogue for 50 years. See all the lovely ladies that came out to honor him. We salute you David!

Find out here about the Made in Brazil Magazine filled with some of the sexiest of male models of today (and where to order it). Part 2 is here. Get it, it’s a collector’s piece. We are announcing MODELS.com’s winners of the giveaways next week.

The Imagist has a fascinating interview with Hugh Lippe, definitely a young, talented photographer to watch.

Haiti is no longer so prevalent in the news but that doesn’t mean the Haitians need any less help. Look at these incredible images in a Art for Haiti auction that just began. Stam is in 2 of the shots; all the artwork is phenomenal and starting at outrageously affordable prices and for such a great cause; it’s a must see.

For those of you bemoaning the lack of naked women or breasts or just general salaciousness on Terry Richardson’s blog, don’t you fret… Andrew Richardson‘s Magazine is relaunching any day now. No, they are not related, except maybe metaphorically speaking in their obvious love for breasts.

If you’re in Paris, go check out the wonderful Ellen von Unwerth Cinema exhibition. (Till June 19th)

Not modeling related but how cool is Jed Root’s photographer Mary Ellen Matthews who is Saturday Night Live’s house photographer?

Fashion:

Why Riccardo Tisci matters. Here is Sans Artifice’s take on it.

If you missed it, Alber Elbaz, talks to Style.com in their Future of Fashion series.

OK. I finally get the hype about young Tavi now. Just read this post by her on the whole recent Terry kerfuffle and am blown away by the insightfulness of this 14 year old young lady.

Like 10 Magazine, we are obsessing over this bag. And damn you Tommy Ton for suddenly making us want all of these.

Katie Grand pens this moving tribute to industry powerhouse Katy Baggot who passed away so suddenly.

Anna Sui‘s book is coming out and we cannot wait! With an introduction by Steven Meisel, expect the book to have much fabulousness.

Anne Christensen rumored to fill the top slot at the New York Times’ T Magazine. We’ll let you know if it’s not true.

Modeling news:

From Marpessa to Carla Bruni to Mariacarla Boscono, former model turned agent to the superstars, Woman Milan’s Piero Piazzi is amazing. Read his interview and see a picture of him!

Talk about inspirational. Fernando Fernandes, you may remember got paralyzed from a car accident (see him here in the current Dolce Gabbana fragrance campaign) . He’s already in a new ad which just shot.

OK, this trailer made me cry. Incredible model/activist Liya Kebede, in Desert Flower, rocks my world portraying the incredible model/activist Waris Dirie.

Next in line to design is Irina Lazareanu, calling it Rini by Irina. She has phenomenal style though so it could be pretty darn good.

This just in. 9 Daughter & A Stereo, who repped some of the coolest, quirkiest boys around, is rumored to have closed. So sad if that’s true.

Rare is the brand that people get excited about in terms of fashion, imagery AND casting. Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci is one of those and for F/W 10, WWD gives us a preview of the campaign with one exciting and unexpected face. Lea T, a Brazilian transsexual who is his former assistant and fit model joins longtime Tisci favorites Mariacarla Boscono and Simon Nessman. Returning face Jonathan Marquez appears as well, with a pink haired Malgosia Bela and Catherine McNeil adding supermodel vavoom. Fresh faces Joan Smalls, Ming Xi , Paolo Roldan and Willy Cartier appear in their first major campaign which was styled by Carine Roitfeld and shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
