Lurve Actually

May 7th, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

For Lurve Magazine’s ninth issue themed “Visually, Precisely” the indie mag wanted photography itself to be the creative thrust, so assembling art photographers and image aficionados like Giasco Bertoli and Valerio Spada, who typically operate outside of fashion, made complete sense to shoot the two covers. Philo-philes can embrace the Céline laden cover stars styled by Moreno Galatà. Sure-to-be-hit Poppy Okotcha looks simply sweet in natural light by Spada and Taja Feistner brings the edge, shot in Bertoli’s raw manner. Other editorials by Estelle Hanania with Yulia Musieichuck and Sara Van Pée keep in line with those honest and candid aesthetics, whereas Edith Bergfors’ rich and contrasty images explore form. See the exclusive issue preview below.

First Look: Lurve

April 24th, 2014 |Posted by

Lurve Magazine‘s next era kicks off with a stellar issue with a fresh perspective on fashion. Editor in chief Lyna V. Ahanda, new fashion director Moreno Galatà and fashion editor Alessandra Conti create an issue focused on a modern interpretation of 90s style fashion photography. Bringing all the raw energy and individualism that defined the 90s aesthetic back into the mix is an inspired move and one that makes each editorial feel vital.

The issue’s six covers take the theme head on with a diverse lineup of models & photogs; reportage photographer Olivia Arthur shoots model Adwoa Aboah in Louis Vuitton; while Lily McMenamy sports Céline in a stylized shot by Sonia Sieff. Queen of cool Caroline de Maigret shows another side in an elegant image by Alessio BolzoniRobbie McKinnon sports a brush and stacks of vinyl in his cheeky cover by Edmund Aves. The always chic Elisa Sednaoui is serene in Prada in her cover by Laurence Ellis (Visual Artist UK ) and Hanne Gaby Odiele delights in a striking image by Dario Catellani (Paris: ArtList Paris, New York: ArtList NY)

Inside the content is every bit as compelling as the covers, with an array of contributors providing exciting new edits that adhere to that avant garde 90s spirit. Each story is special in its own way, but famed street photographer Nick Turpin providing his first fashion work, shooting Neelam Johal in a museum setting is a bonafide moment.

Up In Flames

July 3rd, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Lurve Magazine is on fire – literally – watch the flames rise on the striking new cover starring Aline Weber. Shot by Tetsuharu Kubota and styled by Maher Jridi, the white hot cover is an expressive start to an issue set around ideas about “the other” and exploring the importance of the outsider perspective. The heat doesn’t stop there, a second cover featuring Shanina Shaik turns up the temperature, with a slick black and white image of the sultry beauty. Inside Marlon Teixeira strips down in Jeremy Kost‘s intimate polaroids, which show a private side of the popular star.

Cover to Cover : November

October 17th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

November provides us with an unusually high supply of beautiful covers featuring our favorite girls, but which one is the best of the bunch? Tell us your thoughts on this month’s lineup of covers.

Rosie Huntington Whiteley by Alexi Lubomirski on Vogue Germany
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and Rosie never fails to look sexy, but it would have been nice to see her in some couture.

Mariacarla Boscono on Vogue Korea
As one of the girls who can do no wrong, Mariacarla never fails to excite, but we’re not sure if this icy image illustrates the ‘Woman Power’ headline.

Naomi Campbell by Ronald Dick on Lurve Magazine
The combo of Gareth Pugh and no-eyebrows is a striking look on the iconic Ms. Campbell.

Bambi Northwood Blyth by JM Ferrater METAL Magazine
The edgy Spanish must read gives us an elegant and delicately beautiful image of Bambi at her best.

Edita Vilkeviciute by Peter Lindbergh on Vogue China
Edita, Lindbergh and loads of Vuitton, what’s not to love?

Miranda Kerr by Jillian Davison on Harper’s Bazaar Australia
Mrs. Bloom in a curve conscious Mary Katrantzou ensemble that grabs your attention.

Lara Stone by Mario Sorrenti on Vogue Japan
At this point everyone is probably tired of seeing that Givenchy collection on magazine covers, but Lara looks fresh nonetheless.

Alina Baikova by Nicole Bentley on Vogue Australia
It is always summer somewhere and Aussie Vogue rings in the season with Alina in stripes and brights.

Lindsey Wixson by Phil Poynter on W Korea
Dramatic posing and an outlandish outfit bring this image to life – bonus points to anyone who can ID the ensemble!

Jac Jagaciak by Nino Munoz on Numero Tokyo
Jac never fails to look sweet, though it would have been lovely to see a smile on this ‘Gentle-lady’ themed cover.
