The Institute

March 13th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Steven Klein‘s editorial work has always teetered on the edge of darkness, with subject matter ranging from robotic housewives, to maniacal couples being ever present in his images. For the latest issue of Interview Klein creates a violent fantasy world that seems ripped from the headlines. Crystal Renn stars as an abused asylum patient and Karolina Kurkova as her icy nurse captor. As usual Ludivine Poiblanc‘s styling is perfection and Klein’s photography has an eerie cinematic feel, but does the extreme bondage and dark nature of the story work for you? Let us know in the comments!

Image Adjustments

January 19th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

With top models, A-List photographers and a fresh outlook, popular brands are redefining their image just in time for campaign season.

CALVIN KLEIN JEANS
PHOTOGRAPHY Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott
STYLING Karl Templer
MODELS Arran SlyJoan SmallsLara StoneMatthew TerryMyles CrosbyToni Garrn

CK knows how to create an image filled with sex appeal and they’ve never shied away from pushing the envelope when it comes to visuals. CK Jeans’ ads are as much about the sex appeal of Lara Stone and Toni Garrn as they are about the brightly colored denim. Fabien Baron‘s creative direction keeps this M&M wet n’wild extravaganza on the sleek side, but make no mistake the line is out to turn up the heat with these shots.

TRUE RELIGION
PHOTOGRAPHY Alexi Lubomirski
STYLING Patti Wilson
MODELS Brad Kroenig, Tallulah Morton, Julia Dunstall & Alicia Rountree

Brad Kroenig as an easy rider? That’s a concept we can get behind. True Religion focuses on personality for Spring with ads themed around denim clad mavericks, wanderers and rebels. The American west plays a strong role in Alexi’s imagery as does Patti Wilson’s always inventive styling. Check out the behind the scenes video for a sense of the atmosphere on the day of the shoot.

JUICY COUTURE
PHOTOGRAPHY Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin
STYLING Melanie Ward
MODELS Anna Selezneva

Juicy has pulled in heavy hitters Inez & Vinoodh to focus on the line’s fashionable side. Does Anna S. looking chic on the streets of Los Angeles make you forget about those ubiquitous velour sweatsuits? Maybe not, but I&V will always give you a great shot of a blonde tossing her hair.

TOPSHOP
PHOTOGRAPHY Josh Olins
STYLING Kate Phelan
MODELS Lara Mullen, Magda Laguinge & Marihenny Pasible

Two sides to every young woman – the glamorous diva and the girl next door, Topshop illustrates the concept via contrasting Olins images of the campaign’s fresh faces. It is impressive how high end Topshop’s fast fashion pieces look with the right styling. If we didn’t know better we’d swear that white dress on Marihenny was Versace…

DIESEL
PHOTOGRAPHY Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott
STYLING Ludivine Poiblanc
MODELS Alison NixAshley SmithCatherine McNeilDmitriy TannerLiu WenMaria PalmPatrick Kafka & Simon Nessman

A massive robot, a dollhouse on fire, Catherine McNeil emerging from a potted plant, Diesel goes for the offbeat with their wide array of props and while we’re not sure what the overarching message behind this imagery is, but it is certainly striking.

A Taste of Cherry

July 18th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

As the reigning queen of glossy editorial perfection, Camilla Akrans never fails to create a world filled with saturated color and glamorous inhabitants. Akrans’ latest for Vogue Italia takes blonde beauty Ieva Laguna and transforms her into a cherry haired vixen. Lacquered lips, a few well placed diamonds and a barely there fringe number by Versace selected by Ludivine Poiblanc, complete the sultry look, but Ieva brings the sizzle. With poses ranging from come hither stares to a full blown rapturous head toss, Miss Laguna is giving her all to the camera.

Givenchygasm

June 7th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Riccardo Tisci‘s gothic view for Givenchy is the perfect compliment for Steven Klein‘s darkly erotic photographs and in this month’s Interview the forces combine for an engrossing editorial starring Saskia de Brauw and Guinevere Van Seenus. The Amanda Lear and Bettie Page inspired fall collection was filled with suggestive undertones and Ludivine Poiblanc selects sheer pieces that seem designed to titillate. Julien d’Ys‘s larger than life anime hair styles and Stephane Marais‘s bold makeup, give the story an added sense of whimsy, but nothing (not even a backdrop of crushed cars) can take our eyes off of those Tisci creations.

Element of Style

April 18th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott draw inspiration from 90s classic The Fifth Element in their latest editorial for Interview. With Guinevere Van Seenus playing Milla Jovovich‘s Leeloo with flaming red hair and a minimalist all white wardrobe provided by Ludivine Poiblanc. Do you think the high fashion tribute does the film justice?

Seeing Double

December 2nd, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Sølve Sundsbø is a master of slick futurism and he brings his signature touch to the pages of Interview with a deceptively simple story. Ludivine Poiblanc styles Anais Mali and Melodie Monrose in glamorous pieces that are feminine yet dramatic. The combination of restrained color palate, choice pieces from the Spring collections and sensual poses from Anais and Melodie makes for an engaging and memorable tale.

Pattern Play

December 2nd, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Vogue Nippon gives us a look at resort’s finest prints and patterns, with a festive editorial by Josh Olins. The saturated colors and vivid ensembles styled by Ludivine Poiblanc, create a vacation feel with a surrealist twist; the sets by Kadu Lennox are beautiful, but just a little spooky too. As always Guinevere Van Seenus adds a touch of class to the story with her serene presence, making pieces from Chanel, Prada and Giorgio Armani look ravishing.

Minimal Wave

August 3rd, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Ludivine Poiblanc does futurism right with an edgy editorial by Mark Segal in the latest Vogue Nippon. The super star stylist picks from the season’s sartorial hits to create a series of looks that would fit right in a science fiction film. Anna Jagodzinska wears each outfit perfectly and looks nearly unrecognizable in a short black wig and icy makeup.
