Fashion Meets Context in SSAW

October 30th, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

SSAW Magazine‘s latest A/W issue is giving us total alternative vibes, meaning the fashion without the superfluous nonessentials. It’s a lesson in nonchalance and gritty art-meets-fashion photography. The four covers are a swath of inside aesthetics and contributors like Drew Jarrett‘s dreamy capture of Guinevere Van Seenus or Marton Perlaki‘s artful compositions of Drake Burnette. Beneath the covers, the editorials are a subsurface selection of where fashion finds context, all distinct, but all intimate. See a preview of the issue below.

For it’s 34th issue,  METAL Magazine evokes and channels the idea of “Beautiful Obsessions” into its soft-hued pages and avoids the predictable–offering up a fresh show and tell of visuals. Three covers, featuring fragile stares by each of its stars, Luka van der VekenHari Nef and Julia Leineweber, bind the collection of editorials, prefaced by an editor’s statement, “As the issue started shaping itself, we realized it was an issue about beauty. In other words, about how we seek for beauty in those obsessions that keep chasing us along our lifetime.” Inside Coco Capitan photographs Gaby Loader & Sasha Baldina with her signature idiosyncratic eye, dressed in red tracksuits courtesy of Anna Pesonen, while Julia Leineweber shimmers, bedecked with glitter and sequin in her story by Raffaele Cariou and Martina Lew quietly models in peculiar pastels styled by Santi Rodriguez and shot by Jonas Lindstrom. See what else below.

Fashion is all about pushing boundaries and given the cutting-edge ethos of last season’s collections, magazines are pulling out all the stops for issues that celebrate nonconformity. Nadja Bender shines in Chanel couture on the cover which brings to life Lagerfeld’s wild, Brave new World collection to life. Inside an array of striking content entices the eye – experience a first look at the cover and the issue’s three teasers below.
