Anna Rises

October 30th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

It is easy to see why Anna Ewers is the most wanted girl of the moment. The German beauty has a pristine appeal that calls to mind Deutschland favorites like Toni Garrn and Claudia Schiffer. Classic beauty is always great, but nothing beats a girl with the look and the ability to bring it in front of the camera. Since her stellar show season (check out her Top 10 Newcomer story) Anna has been making a splash in the pages of Vogue Paris, CR Fashion Book, British Vogue and the latest Prada campaign – an impressive lineup for any model, but a breakout series of bookings for a girl fresh on the scene.

Laundry Service

August 23rd, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

As some of the most divisive and easily recognizable pieces of the fall/winter season, Céline‘s bold plaid prints have become a focal point in editorials the past few months. Whether you love the red and blue tartan, or find they resemble the ubiquitous laundry bags found at your local bodega it is impossible to deny their presence in the pages of fashion glossies. Though most stylists don’t stray too far from the runway interpretation of the look, Philo’s creations remain compelling, especially when juxtaposed with an interesting background or unique set. In Steven Meisel‘s Vogue Italia shots they are pit against a swirling arm chair by designer Tord Boontje and the pairing brings out the best of both statement pieces. Likewise the seeing the Celine plaid opposite Stella McCartney‘s version of the same in Vogue Russia provides a concise overview of one of fall’s key trends. Naturally, there are also moments when all you need is a great model and a few more pieces from the collection, case in point Tao Okamoto‘s new cover of Vogue Japan which provides an ideal showcase for Tao and those coveted thigh high boots.

The Cat Returns

August 7th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

2013 is a big year for Catherine McNeil, with an enviable comeback in full swing and a recent agency switch to The Society Management the Aussie beauty is absolutely everywhere. One of the most beautiful stories she’s featured in this month comes courtesy of Mario Testino, who captured Cat in classic style within the pages of British Vogue. As one of the first photographers to champion Catherine at the beginning of her career, Testino knows exactly how to present McNeil’s lush, sensual beauty. The elegant story styled by Lucinda Chambers focuses on the season’s ladylike dressing and the abundant floral detailing seen on the runways. In the hands of a lesser team, this story could seem tepid, but Testino, Chambers and McNeil bring the theme to life with an expressive grandeur.

Age of Beauty

June 14th, 2013 |Posted by models.com

In this month’s issue of British Vogue, Drake Burnette is sexy and sophisticated in an editorial focusing on elegant yet seductive styles. Burnette, fresh onto the scene at 27, is definitely one to keep an eye on, proving the fashion industry is anyone’s game in “Age of Beauty.”

Clean Sweep

June 7th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Modern minimalism with a shot of color reigns supreme in Josh Olins‘s sleek British Vogue story. Styled by Lucinda Chambers and featuring heaps of Celine, Marni and Dries Van Noten, the story represents a thinking woman’s idea of chic, an ideal encapsulated in the striking Suvi Koponen. Pared down hair & makeup by Samantha Hillerby and Samantha Bryant, completes the look with style and panache.

Pale Fire

March 21st, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Josh Olins creates a vision of purity for British Vogue with an ethereal edit starring Lara Mullen. Dressed in white pieces by Marc JacobsYohji Yamamoto and more, selected by stylist Lucinda Chambers, Lara looks radiant and fresh. Special attention must be paid to the selection of headdresses featured in the story – Jane Taylor Millinery‘s collection of beautiful bespoke hats is put to good use.

Brit Wit

February 6th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

British Vogue always manages to feature some of our favorite girls in decidedly different ways. This month the mag transforms ethereal gypsy Abbey Lee Kershaw into a 60s siren, gives Zuzanna Bijoch the minimalist treatment and provides Karlie Kloss with entry into a world of pure kitsch. The dramatic, colorful and just slightly kooky stories, make for an especially strong issue and the perfect compliment to that candy colored Lana Del Rey cover.

The retro vibe of Abbey Lee Kershaw‘s dreamy story by by Alasdair McLellan is enhanced by the fact that it was shot in Hollywood legend Elizabeth Taylor’s former home: Francesca Burns‘ styling really shines here.

Zuzanna Bijoch‘s severe shots by David Sims feature standout pieces from BalenciagaComme des Garcons and Miu Miu selected by none other than Joe McKenna.

The Mario Testino helmed meditation on excess is filled with patterns, prints and other forms of opulent ornamentation chosen by Lucinda Chambers and worn by Karlie Kloss.
