Cover to Cover

January 14th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

It’s cover vs. cover in this roundup of the month’s fashion hits. Let us know which covers were your favorites and which one’s didn’t quite make the cut.

ANDROGYNOUS APPEAL

Both Saskia de Brauw and Milla Jovovich have an innately stylish vibe that sets them apart from other cover stars, so seeing their faces peering out from the newsstand is always a treat. On February’s Vogue Russia Saskia provides a bit of androgynous edge to Paolo Roversi‘s moody blue imagery in a serious yet sensual cover. Milla J on the other hand is looking resplendent in Saint Laurent Paris on Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin‘s New York themed cover of the new Vogue Paris.

2 SIDES OF CONSTANCE

February brings double the Constance Jablonski for you to enjoy, with two very different Vogue covers. Vogue Germany‘s Alexi Lubomirski (New York: Management + Artists, Paris: Management + Artists) image offers a sultry vision of the Estee Lauder face, complete with dark lips and a retro chic bob worthy of a classic film siren. Patrick Demarchelier shows another side of Constance on Vogue China‘s springy cover shot, a simple portrait that is about as pretty as it gets.

SULTRY CONSTANCE OR FLOWERY CONSTANCE – EVERYBODY WINS!

BATTLE OF THE BLONDES

It is hard to find a flaw on Scarlett Johansson, but how does Elle UK‘s Rankin cover with the Avengers beauty compare to their one and only Anja Rubik? Both stars are clad in minimalist chic, both are looking phenomenal, but ultimately Anja’s cover is the more dynamic of the two. Naturally that means it is also the more difficult one to get your hands on, if you’re in London head on over to Selfridges to get this limited edition Elle cover.

THE TEASERS

LOVE Magazine
s new ‘Clean Issue’ may not have debut just yet, but they really know how to amp up the anticipation. The teaser shots of models of the moment, Cara Delevingne and Edie Campbell by Sølve Sundsbø are elegant without losing any of LOVE’s trademark cool.

Just Ale

August 6th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Boo George shows another side of the always alluring Alessandra Ambrosio with a stripped down story in Love Magazine. The images shot just a day before Ambrosio gave birth feature her looking serene on a sprawling beachfront in a simple t-shirt and cutoffs. George captures the VS glamazon at her most natural and radiant, eating an apple, relaxing by the shore and simply glowing.

Little Monsters

February 14th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

If you break from your busy fashion week schedule to take a look at one editorial, it ought to be Love Magazines imaginative and raw Tim Walker story, ‘The Origin of Monsters’ featuring Kristen McMenamy. Arachnophobes might want to skip this one, but everyone else can enjoy the spooky mix of oversized insects and a host of prime pieces with unusual origins chosen by Katie Grand. There is some vintage Dior couture (you may remember the golden armor from 06) a couple of chain mail headdresses from the Royal National Theater and of course the edgy editorial prerequisite, Alexander McQueen. It might be too early to start picking 2012′s best stories, but Kristen as an otherworldly, monster slayer certainly qualifies as a standout.

Guccissima

August 15th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

The Gucci look could never be called minimalist but in Love Magazine‘s latest issue, a pared down Natalia Vodianova makes the line’s ostentatious wares look downright austere. The beautiful and simple shots by Alasdair McLellan capture Natalia’s beauty and Katie Grand‘s impeccable styling brings out the best of Gucci’s archival pieces.

A Few Good Men

July 29th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

In case you’ve haven’t had enough of phenomenal previews from the newest edition of Love Magazine, take a sneak peek at Alessandra Ambrosio, as a dashing naval sailor in Boo George‘s beautiful story from Issue No. 6. Alessandra is worlds away from her bombshell persona and she disappears into her role with panache. Sporting naval inspired looks selected by Anders Solvsten Thomsen, Alessandra looks phenomenal. We’re excited to see the rest of the story, which also features George Barnett, Alexander Beck, Sid Ellisdon, Danny Fox, Julius Gerhardt, Tommy Kristiansen, Robert Knighton, Kate King & Hannah Noble.

Bits and Bytes: Multi Cover Mania

August 21st, 2009 |Posted by Betty

Kate Moss by Craig McDean for Another Magazine. (for full story on the covers and Another Magazine’s Decade in Style, click here).

Joining in the multi cover party that V Magazine started with 4 Fall covers and the special edition V Magazine 19 cover bonanza by Paul Rowland, is Another Magazine‘s beauteous quartet of Natalie Portman, Vanessa Paradis, Kate Moss and Katie Holmes. Love Magazine also enters the fray with 2 covers, one of Coco Sumner (Sting’s daughter) and the other of young musician Alex Hartley. It looks like it’s never been a better time for readers with such a plethora of choices.

Amber Valletta, Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista and Lady Gaga for V Magazine.

There’s always the next Kate Moss, but is this girl actually the one?

If you’ve ever met French model Vincent LaCrocq, you’ll know why he was picked for Alexander Wang‘s men’s lookbook. Completely swoonworthy.

When we want more black models in editorials, this is NOT what we were thinking of… Our own story on R’el and Melodie by Greg Kadel for Numero is also generating quite a discussion.

Annie Leibovitz, strange and sad story.

What is the future of fashion, modeling and the Internet? The Imagist ponders

September 10th’s Fashion’s Night Out in NYC promises to be big.. Mark your calendars now to meet supermodels, designers and photographers like Steven Klein and Annie Leibovitz. Click here for the official website.

How funny… the making of the Gucci campaign is preferred to the actual campaign.

Top model Sean O’Pry has been awarded the keys to his hometown city. Here’s a pic of him with his mayor.

13 year old style blogger Tavi is on the new POP cover…. and you are not.

Jessica White blogs; she talks about the ups and downs of her life. Besides the excitement of shooting for Sports Illustrated and Maybelline, she is frank about losing her money and the devastation of being sexually abused, this looks like a must read.

Speaking of all the calls for less Photoshopping… here’s Glamour Magazine‘s model with a belly and she looks beautiful!

Models go to the movies..Irina Lazareanu has landed the lead in the new Spike Lee movie! Agyness Deyn is also set to appear in a Kevin Sampson movie.

Kate Moss vs Scarlett Johansson, are we seeing double??
