Mod Squad

June 26th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The resurgence of mod was one of fall’s most impactful runway trends and American Vogue captures the look with a playful Mario Testino (Art Partner) editorial starring Cara Delevingne. London girl Cara is the perfect person to pull off this quintessentially British look and she’s joined by lead singer of The Heartbreaks Matthew Whitehouse and Josh Nickerson (Anti-Agency), both of whom look authentically retro. Grace Coddington handles styling and as always provides an eye-catching mix of designer wares. Pieces from Tom Ford, Burberry and Saint Laurent Paris are put to good use and Didier Malige (Art Partner) and Linda Cantello‘s hair & makeup provide the final touch of swinging sixties beauty.

Rock of Ages

July 6th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Hedi Slimane goes for glam rock gusto in the latest issue of V Magazine: the Transformation issue promises shift perceptions and with Anja Rubik becoming into 70s style rocker for Slimane’s lens it looks like V72 is off to a good start. Rubik’s new guise is crafted by Melanie Ward, with pieces from Isabel Marant, Balmain and Tom Ford mixed with vintage from What Goes Around Comes Around. Peter Klein‘s incredible sets add a bit of authentic edge into the mix and Didier Malige and Linda Cantello complete Anja’s transformation with a little slicked back hair and glitter liner, but it is Ms. Rubik who brings the necessary attitude with twisting poses and glaring looks.

A Russian Tale

April 28th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Linda Cantello brings her masterful makeup artistry to the pages of Vogue Russia, with an inspired beauty story. Shot by Paolo Roversi and styled by Sheila Single, the story recreates the look of Russian ballet performers during the era of Diaghilev. Using makeup, couture and a little magic, Iris Strubegger and Heidi Mount are transformed into surreal interpretations of the the period’s look. The end result is a story that is imaginative and inspiring all at once.

About Face

April 1st, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Vogue Nippon presents three beauties whose physical perfection is matched only by their talents in front of the camera. Naty Chabanenko, Valeria Dmitrienko and Ragnhild Jevne play priestesses for Daniel Jackson while makeup artist du jour Linda Cantello transforms the girls into otherworldly creatures via a liberal application of spring’s sheerest shades. The best beauty editorials highlight not only the makeup but also the women who wear it.
