Pre-Fall Finery

December 13th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Pre-fall’s appealing fashions just keep on coming, every day a new set of designers releases their collection and across the board there have been beautiful looks to love. Take a look at a few of our favorites and tell us yours in the comments.

PRABAL GURUNG
Models: Tilda LindstamKremi Otashliyska and Tian Yi | Images Courtesy of Prabal Gurung

For pre-fall Prabal Gurung namechecked Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet as a reference, so we knew we were in for an exciting mix of the old and new. Mixed prints are all the rage, but no one does them with as much finesse. We’ve seen Gurung do impressive riffs on the traditional floral in previous seasons, but pre-fall’s lush interpretations, whether embroidered or printed are simply stunning. Add in the Mexican textile inspired pieces, Gurung’s unique take on tweed and of course and of course those intense colors and you have the makings of a compelling collection.

Cool girls rejoice, your wardrobe has arrived! Lazaro and Jack never disappoint and their pre-fall look is all about texture, wearability and adaptable pieces that fit right in to your life. We’re already craving those incredible metallics separates and the brand new Courier bag, another surefire Proenza hit.

JASON WU
Models: Sharam DinizMartha Hunt  & Andreea Diaconu | Images Courtesy Jason Wu

Is it just us or has the Wu girl evolved into a very sexy miss? S/S saw the designer in a decidedly daring mood with his tasteful dominatrix inspired styles adding just the right amount of darkness to his repertoire. Pre-fall finds Wu continuing to traipse down the road less traveled, with a series of revealing looks that flirt with danger. Sequined gowns with transparent panels showing off a touch of skin, leather accents, touches of gold – it all makes for one scintillating package.

ZAC POSEN
Models: Crystal Renn and Anna Cleveland | Images Courtesy Zac Posen

Never one to skimp on the glamour, Zac Posen gave fans a suitably decadent pre-fall collection, filled to the brim with dresses fit for the galas, film premieres and invite-only fêtes Posen girls find themselves attending at least once a week. Opera singer Maria Callas was on Posen’s mind this season and it shows in the diva-worthy ball gowns and theatrical details. Posen makes clothing for women with personality and flair, but just about anyone would look camera ready in that red satin number.

Mean Girls

October 22nd, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Cool girls have always been a source of editorial inspiration; open up any magazine under the sun and you’ll see a profile on a budding it-girl, page after page of models with just the right attitudes and a general focus on the kind of women that inspire adoration. We can’t help but be fascinated by an editorial that heads back to the schoolyard and focuses on all things cool – suburban style.

In the latest New York Times Magazine Tyrone Lebon shoots the fresh cast of Juliana Schurig,Kremi Otashliyska, Kate King, Hannah Holman and Charlene Almarvez looking like a bunch of private school escapees. Wearing the latest looks from Band of OutsidersTheoryJ.W. Anderson and more, all selected by Sara Moonves, the haute fashion high schoolers seem ready to teach a course on style, but will they let you sit at their table come lunch period? Check out the full story on NYT.
