Vuitton’s New Groove

June 25th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

As one of the ultimate luxury brands Louis Vuitton has to take things just one step further than the rest. Case in point Nicolas Ghesquière‘s first campaign for LV, which boasts three of photography’s biggest names – Juergen Teller, Bruce Weber and Annie Leibovitz. Each superstar was given free reign to interpret Ghesquière’s fall collection and photograph some of his many muses. Naturally Liya Kebede, Freja Beha Erichsen and Charlotte Gainsbourg make appearances and newcomers Jean Campbell and Kirstin Liljegren star alongside the three Ghesquière vets. The striking Series 1 ads are a completely new direction for LV and serve to usher in the brands thrilling new chapter under Ghesquière.

FIRST LOOK: Scandinavia SSAW

December 16th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Last week we previewed Scandinavia SSAW Magazine‘s stunning Frida Gustavsson editorial, shot in the mountains of Norway and filled with natural beauty – that story was gorgeous but it is far from the only treat inside the issue. With a series of elegant covers featuring Scandinavian top models alongside delicate drawings of flora, the magazine sets the tone for an issue focused on eye-catching images. Whether the content skews naturalistic – as it does in Hasse Nielsen‘s cheeky ‘Nadja On A Bender’ story, or epic ala Benjamin Vnuk‘s dramatic shots of Stef Van Der Laan, each story is high quality from start to finish.

Just Kids

January 17th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

If a campaign is the visual representation of a house’s current mood, what are Balenciaga‘s S/S ads saying about the storied label? Captivating new faces Laura Kampman, Juliane Grüner, Rosie Tapner & Kirstin Liljegren star in Steven Meisel‘s images as a rag-tag bunch of girls gone grunge. The inspiration? None other than the legendary Patti Smith – take a look at her personal photos from the book Just Kids, to see where the campaign gets its spirit. The look is recreated with bedhead courtesy of Guido Palau, smoky makeup by Pat McGrath and Marie-Amélie Sauvé‘s artful styling. A dilapidated hotel room and those larger than life accessories from the spring collection also play a pivotal role.
