La Canzone del Mare

September 2nd, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The Dolce & Gabbana look is one of the most easily recognizable in fashion – the brand’s quintessentially Italian take on style is unmistakable. The dramatic nature of Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbanas clothing makes the duo’s wares perfect for editorial and Vogue Japan taps into the larger than life style of Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda with a seaside story as lively and colorful as anything you’ll see this month. Dalianah ArekionKinga Rajzak and Nadja Bender take to the shores of Capri wearing the couture collection as they perch on the edge of cliffs and pose on boats while looking like princesses – complete with gilded D&G crowns. Giovanna Battaglia and Anna Dello Russo take turns styling, creating a vivid portrait of Mediterranean glamour.

Dark & Lovely

July 25th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

With her long black hair and piercing blue eyes, Kinga Rajzak has become the go-to girl for editorials in need of an eerie touch, but just because she’s everyone’s favorite ultra-cool beauty doesn’t mean she can’t deliver classic elegance when called for. Jem Mitchell‘s dynamic beauty shots for Vogue Japan are dark and brooding, but they’re also a sophisticated showcase for the timeless appeal of a berry lip, or smoky eye created by Petros Petrohilos. Chic styling by Jamie Surman, enhances the story, with gothic pieces from Ann Demeulemeester and lacy Dolce & Gabbana setting the sartoriali mood. Hair genius Neil Moodie ads the final bit of polish, crafting elegantly undone styles for Kinga, that mesh with the woodsy setting and folkloric feel.

We love when our favorite models and favorite labels come together, like in Preen‘s ultracool video for Resort starring Kinga Rajzak. Directed by Nick Dorey and featuring an array of colorful kimono inspired looks in retro silhouettes, the video is an appealing showcase for Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi’s work.

Vintage Appeal

January 5th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Vogue Italia kicks 2011 off right with a beautiful vintage inspired cover and corresponding editorial. Steven Meisel and Karl Templer, look back to the days when fashion shows were intimate affairs; just a small room with models carrying cards bearing the number of each look. The focus was entirely on the fashion, not the celebrities in the front row or any other distractions. This story is a treat for anyone who loves clothes – looks by Lanvin, Chanel and Vuitton come to life in Meisel’s photos. As always the model selection is top notch, with VI first timers Anais Mali, Fei Fei Sun, Arizona Muse and Herieth Paul, joining regulars Kinga Rajzak and Freja Beha Erichsen.
