Time To Enlist

Richard Phibbs’ latest editorial “Boot Camp” featured in the French publication L’Équipe, is a brilliant throwback to 1940’s propaganda. The feature includes favorites Chad White, Kerry Degman and Oraine Barrett and up and coming stars Mike Derr and Ryan Bertroche in an aesthetic similar to that of Frank Capra’s Army recruitment films during World War II. It captures a classic masculine ideal and hails to a disciplinary theme that we’ve seen reoccurring in recent editorials. (story by Gary Mazrek)

…. hot! This past Saturday, Armani Exchangetreated a whole host of lucky fans to a signing with the face of their underwear line, model Kerry Degman. When we asked him how it felt being the face of such a huge brand like Armani Exchange, Mr Degman humbly replied, “Exciting and awkward. I get so much more attention.” We say it’s well deserved for the young American! For a Q&A with Kerry, click here.

Party Favors

Enjoying the nightlife appears to be a recurring motif within the F/W campaigns. DSquared F/W serves up yet another ‘sexy night on the town” themed ad but this time around Lara Stone, Kerry Degman, Antonio Navas and Cesar Casier have the sort of wild evening only Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott could capture. From Lara riding on Kerry’s back to the group partying on a Rolls it would seem a very good time was had by all.

In very sad news, photographer Luke Smalley has passed away.

No, we didn’t know Thierry Mugler was a photographer too.

For all you people who grew up in the 80’s, here’s a fantastically hilarious fragrance commercial which has big cats and even bigger hair.

More Carine Roitfeld news.. she talks to the Guardian (via Fashionologie).

The latest GQ Style is out in London and judging by the images pouring in, the UK continues to win as the hotbed of progressive men’s fashion editorials. Brand new face (and MDC former MOTW) Alan Carey appears on a unconventional and optimistic cover by Chad Pitman hailing an Obama led new America. One of our favorite newcomers David Agbodji is featured inside alongside Alan as well as Brittain Ward, Callum Turner, Kerry Degman, Oliver Cheshire, Tyler Riggs and Zach Ferry. The surprise appearance of Model.live’s Madeline Kragh is a fantastic casting choice for the story United State. We can’t wait for the issue to hit stateside!

Savage Grace

Steven Klein does not shy away from controversy. The fearless lensman takes his uncompromising vision to the pages of Arena Homme + to create an erotically charged dystopian view of the future. The thrillingly in your face editorial takes masculine paragons Major’s Kerry Degman, Charles Devoe, Travis Hanson and Doug Porter (with Bryton Munn, Caleb and Santiago) and places them in a surreal world of intrigue and danger. The end result is captivating, thought-provoking and pure Klein.
