Falling 4 Pre-Fall
December 6th, 2012 | Janelle
Pre-fall is in full swing and the season between seasons is providing us with plenty of eye-candy this time around. Take a look at some of our favorites so far and be sure to let us know what you’re loving in the comments.

Neutrals – particularly dramatic black and white – are the bread and butter of the new incarnation of Helmut Lang. Don’t let last season’s foray into bold color fool you, designers Michael and Nicole Colovos have always had a special place in their heart for a restrained color palette. The duo also loves a sharply cut leather jacket and a well applied use of ombre, so their pre-fall look was just one hit after another.

Calvin Klein Collection

Naturally designer Francisco Costa gave Calvin loyalists minimalism, but the brand’s pre-fall looks had an autumnal twist. Described as ‘essential classics’ Costa’s pieces were appealing reinventions of pieces every woman ought to have in her wardrobe; the perfect camel coat, the figure hugging shift, even a few pared down dresses that can go from day into evening.

GIVENCHY
Model: Ricardo Figueiredo
Givenchy always keeps us on our toes and their pre-fall offerings are no exception; leather shorts, deconstructed argyle sweaters, blazers emblazoned with the word pervert – everything is just a little off-kilter, but that keeps things exciting. Like many designers do during this season, Riccardo Tisci looked to the idea of essentials and took some of his bestselling pieces into fresh territory. Just when you think you’ve tired of those ubiquitous doberman t-shirts, Tisci gives you a remixed version of the statement look done in a digitized print.

3.1 PHILLIP LIM
Model: Valery Kaufman / Images Courtesy Phillip Lim
Easily the most sophisticated take on the biker lore that we’ve seen in ages. Fashionphiles are sure to see some Balenciaga parallels in this collection, but adapting high fashion ideas for contemporary set is part of Lim’s formula. Lim played with embellishment, adding in crystals, embroidery and loads of layering for added interest. As always accessories are on point, with a sporty brand new backpack serving as the standout piece.
