America’s Bombshell

A testament to the unstoppable power of Upton! Many have tried, few have managed to snag themselves an only girl Vogue cover. Which goes to show you, in this day and age it takes more than a pretty face and a great showlist. To compete at the top tier a girl has to be part poser, part full-fledged media star appealing to not just the fashion crowd, but all demographics.

A Tale of Two Kates

November 2nd, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Lately it seems like everyone has an opinion on Kate Upton and usually it is a strong one. There are those who say she’s bringing classic curvaceousness back to fashion, those who find her nouveau-pinup schtick grating and of course there are her legions of adoring fans. Fortunately, the only opinions that matter at the end of the day are those of the photographers, stylists and editors who keep falling under her spell. The latest Uptonite is of course Steven Meisel, a man who knows a thing or two about what makes a model great. Meisel features Kate’s ample charms in the latest issues of Vogue Italia and American Vogue, a feat that would be a coup for any model, but for Upton it takes on a special signifigance. Love her or hate her she’s sticking around and is going to be a part of some beautiful imagery.

Speaking controversial Kates, the one and only Kate Moss surfaces on the cover of Vanity Fair looking resplendent in new shots from Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. It is rare for VF to feature living celebrities on their covers, but that is a testament to Moss’ enduring crossover appeal – even those with no interest in fashion know the legend and mystique that is Kate. Odds are that many of those same people will be lining up to find out more about Miss Moss when her autobiography / picture tome hits bookstores. Kate has always maintained an air of mystery (this is the woman who famously gave one word answers in a post-scandal interview) but she sets the record straight on certain subjects in VF, which makes this a must read.

Spotlight On: Weir Diary

July 24th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Though he’s known for putting together some of the most flawless casts imaginable — see Viktor & Rolf‘s stunning lineup of top tier beauties, and the eclectic group of worldly gents he selected for Berluti – casting director Andrew Weir still finds time to capture the biz’s most beautiful faces in his candid blog, Weir Diary. Getting to the heart of his subjects with honest snapshots that capture them looking unguarded and beautiful, Weir has created an intimate look at fashion from an insider perspective.

Who’s That Girl?

June 25th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Ever since she dougied into our hearts little over a year ago, Kate Upton has been blazing a sexy path towards world domination. You’ll find Ms. Upton bikini clad and suggestively licking an frozen treat on the cover of this month’s GQ, but there is more to her than those now famous curves and legions of male admirers. Take a look at her chic side in the new American Vogue, Sebastian Kim‘s images of Kate looking polished in designs from Michael Kors, Proenza Schouler and Altuzarra offer fresh spin on Upton’s appeal. We think she looks right at home in the equestrian finery chosen by Katie Shillingford.

The Upton Effect

February 22nd, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

The sexy market just got a little more competitive thanks to the meteoric rise of Kate Upton. The Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition was a major coup, but the momentum keeps building with cover after cover. From a Marilyn Monroe turn on the latest Muse Magazine, to upstaging Don Draper himself on Esquire, it seems Kate is gunning for that numero uno slot on Top Sexiest. Only time will tell if the blonde bombshell will make an impact with the high fashion crowd and snag the coveted honors but we can’t remember the last time a newbie made such a splash!
