Women on Top

March 13th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Who can resist the allure of a magazine dedicated to dynamic, intelligent and take charge women! David Vivirido and Francesco Sourigues, the forces behind Hercules Magazine unveil their vision for women with Vamp Magazine, a tour de force take on fashion dedicated to those who are unafraid to speak their minds and express themselves via the best in power-dressing. The cover tagline “Being the woman you’ve always wanted to be” offers a compelling call to action – it isn’t enough to just wear pretty clothes, a girl has got to take on the world with gusto. The founders offered a mission statement of sorts to Business of Fashion and described the glossy’s ideal reader in no uncertain terms, “Vamp is for women who want to get ahead, stamp their foot and make a statement.”

We love the sound of that and the look of the 6 incredible new covers, which feature an impressive lineup of modeling fixtures. Each cover star is an impressive woman with personality to spare, from industry standard bearers like Carolyn Murphy and Liya Kebede, multi-hyphenate Rosie Huntington Whiteley, campaign queen Karmen Pedaru and in demand it-girls Andreea Diaconu and Emily DiDonato.

All-Star Spring

March 13th, 2014 |Posted by Matthew

Gunning for April 2014 with a head start, Vogue Japan dives into its Art of Style issue with 10 top models in one fabulous edit. Luigi & Daniele + Iango shoot Karmen Pedaru, Hilary Rhoda, and several more in a celebration of beauty and glamour that’s bound to amaze. Giovanna Battaglia brings her signature eye for color in styling this megawatt shoot, exemplifying that “Style Has Many Faces.” Some of those faces include Liu Wen inPrada, Nadja Bender in Tom Ford, and Elisabeth Erm in Givenchy. Overwhelming abundance seems to be in full bloom this spring, and this glamorous series—rounded out by Julia Stegner, Jeneil Williams, Lily Donaldson, Natasa Vojnovic and Catherine McNeil—might be the best one yet.

Sparkle

November 26th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Karmen Pedaru shines in the pages of Vogue Turkey in a stylized shoot from Cuneyt Akeroglu. The December issue kicks the holiday cheer off early with a glittering feature styled by Konca Aykan. Sporting bleached brows and crimson lips created by Lisa Eldridge, Karmen is a glamorous and at times otherworldly muse. In contrast to the sleek cover and high gloss editorial, the simple black and white shots accompanying Pedaru’s interview offer another take on one of fashion’s most wanted beauties.

Hot N’ Steamy

July 22nd, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

As the heatwave sweeps throughout the city Greg Kadel perfectly encapsulates the scorching hot days of summer with a sensual story in the latest Vogue Espana. Most people would wilt beneath the heat and humidity, but Karmen Pedaru maintains her aloofly sexy persona even when clad in F/W’s decorative furs fresh off the runway. The eclectic mix of luxury fashions and barely there bikinis selected by Havana Laffitte adds a touch of carnality to even the most demure catwalk pieces. Celine’s plaid laundry bag inspired prints and Burberry’s glossy boleros take on a whole new aura thanks to Laffitte’s styling.

Consistently Kors

July 17th, 2013 |Posted by models.com

With the recent release of the Michael Kors F/W 13 campaign, other than stating the obvious of ‘stylish’ and ‘glamorous’, the best word to describe the campaign is ‘consistent’ — and we mean consistent in the best way. Michael Kors’ leading man and lady, Simon Nessman and Karmen Pedaru, are 2 of the main reasons for the fabulous consistency in Kors’ campaigns. The jet-setting duo is flawless in the latest, shot by none other than Mario Testino, his 10th year shooting for the designer.

Take a look at the new F/W 13 campaign below, followed by some of our favorites from the designer:

Karmen Chameleon

February 25th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Are we in the midst of a Karmen Pedaru moment? All signs point to yes; as the lithe Estonian burns up the runways of Milan we’re treated to several stunning new covers of Karmen this month. The Pedaru visage is featured on some of the coolest magazines in existence and each image provides its own creative take on her appeal.

As one of the ten top model covers of The Last Magazine, Karmen exudes sensuality in Lachlan Bailey (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists)’s sultry black and white shot. On Flair‘s cover Karmen provides an elegant ease that Katja Rahlwes (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists) captures beautifully. That said, the most unexpected cover shot has to be i-D Magazine‘s trippy Daniel Sannwald (New York: Management + Artists, Paris: Management + Artists) image that comes complete with a gif party.

The final Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga collection is given the royal treatment in Steven Meisel‘s elegant new campaign for the luxe brand. Kirstin LiljegrenKremi Otashliyska and Sam Rollinson star in the simple black and white images, which focus on the power of the clothing rather than elaborate set ups or outlandish imagery.

FENDI

Karl Lagerfeld shoots the dream team of Kati Nescher and Saskia de Brauw in Fendi’s colorful ads. With accessories serving as a focal point alongside the the vibrant geometric patterns of the S/S collection, Lagerfeld’s shots are a less is more take on Fendi’s opulent glamour.

Karmen, Anja, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott - when you have all that, nothing more is needed.

JIL SANDER
Jil Sander (Designer) | David Sims (Photographer) | Juliane Grüner and Otto Lotz (Models)

Jil is back! With Sander back at the helm of her eponymous line, it is only natural that the S/S 13 campaign would have a completely different look and feel from what we’ve seen from the brand of late. David Sims shoots futuristic ad images that are completely in line with the streamlined Sander vibe, while Juliane Grüner and Otto Lotz perfectly embody the effortless chic of Sander’s aesthetic.

DIOR

Raf Simons (Designer) | Willy Vanderperre (Photographer) | Olivier Rizzo (Fashion Editor/Stylist) | Anthony Turner (Hair Stylist) | Aaron de Mey (Makeup Artist) | Piers Hanmer (Set Designer) | Anna Martynova, Daiane Conterato, Marie Piovesan, Nicole Pollard, Daria Strokous (Models)

We expect nothing less than the pinacle of elegance from fashion’s most storied house and Willy Vanderperre (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists) delivers with a series of campaign images that effortlessly capture Raf Simons’ minimalist vision for Dior. The new look (pun intended) of the campaign feels refreshing and completely in line with the collection.

Resort Hits

June 8th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Another season, another set of wearable designs for resort, even if you aren’t headed to your summer house for a seasonal stopover you’re sure to find something you like. Here’s what we’ve been loving from Resort so far – be sure to tell us your favorites in the comments!

BALENCIAGA
Pictured on Liya Kebede, Marte Mei van Haaster & Meghan Collison

Ballet inspired minimalism, that offers a welcome respite from the 80s infused disco vibe that Ghesquière has been giving us lately. A simple, elegant and dare we say it – pretty, collection that feels new. Plus, it goes without saying that those slate & coral heels are set to become an editorial (and street style) sensation.

GUCCI
Pictured on Bette Franke, Karmen Pedaru & Nadja Bender

The Gucci flora print is iconic and Frida has always found interesting ways of incorporating it into her designs. The Resort collection offers a colorful and feminine take on the Gucci standards and even boasts a little restraint – there is only one pastel suit!

DEREK LAM
Pictured on Monika Sawicka & Ava Smith

We admit that we don’t quite see the Coming to America inspiration, but we’re happy that Derek Lam looked to a film that hasn’t been run into the ground for inspiration. All we see is clean, classic American design with a modern twist and really we can’t complain about that.
