Harley Kloss

October 3rd, 2013 |Posted by models.com

Karlie Kloss goes biker-chic in “Vive Allure” by Katja Rahlwes (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists) for Vogue Paris. In the sultry editorial, Kloss takes a motorcycle ride through the country, showing off her wild side in embellished denim and tribal accessories. Her signature bob looks perfectly “undone” and is paired with a smoky eye to capture the essence of the edgy shoot. Kloss doesn’t typically strike us as a Harley Davidson girl, but once again she convinces us that she can do just about anything. CR Sizzles

September 5th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

The headline making CR Fashion Book moment may belong to the inescapable Kim Kardashian, but the fashion story is all about Bruce Weber and his classic style. Capturing the pleasures of youthful lust is one of Weber’s specialities and in the new CR he shoots a host of bright young things led by Karlie Kloss and rising star Emily Ratajkowski. The carefree beauties frolic, kiss and strip down to their skivvies in Weber’s sensual imagery. The intensity and ecstasy is on full display, but with Carine Roitfeld and Bruce at the helm the story’s eroticism is balanced by elegance.

Makeup: Aaron de Mey | Hair: Didier Malige | Prop styling: Dimitri Levas | Models: Karlie Kloss, Emily Ratajkowski, Henrik Fallenius, Saville Dorfman Diogo de Castro Gomes, Marlon Teixera, Caleb Ellis, Kenneth Guidroz Jr & Greg Stellatos

Drawn Together

August 6th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Over the past three decades celebrated illustrator David Downton has captured numerous fashion icons in his instantly recognizable style. Everyone from Carmen dell’Orefice, to Cate Blanchett has been immortalized by Downton, so it seems only fitting that two of the business’ current queens have gotten the full Downton treatment in the September Vanity Fair. The beauty of Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss is captured in fluid brushstrokes to create stunning one of a kind portraits brimming with elegance and creativity. It’s easy to see why VF has dubbed Karlie and Joan ‘The New Supers’ – on and off the catwalk they’re truly works of art.

Fashion Generation

July 22nd, 2013 |Posted by models.com

Karlie Kloss is joined by electronic music duo Daft Punk in a playful photo shoot for August’s American Vogue. In “All-Ages Show”, Tabitha Simmons styles Kloss for a night out on the town in trendy looks for every age, whether you’re 20-something or 60-something. The “Get Lucky” musical duo, looking robotically dapper, stand alongside Kloss, where Kloss’s signature elegance shines through as per usual. The pairing of the young model and electronic duo may seem odd to some, but it most definitely works, delivering an editorial of fabulous fall fashions for every generation.

Movie Moment

February 4th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

We’ve all seen enough fashion films featuring slow motion models whose hair blows elegantly in the wind and though there is nothing wrong with that per se, the most engaging campaign movies we’re seeing this year break from the tried and true formulas. Going for over the top humour, cinematic imagery or full on designer commentary, these brand new campaigns excite and delight.

T BY ALEXANDER WANG S/S 13

We last saw Anjelah Johnson’s Bon Qui Qui character on old episodes of Mad TV, but she’s back and has upgraded from her old job at King Burger. Starring as a sales associate at Wang’s trendy Soho boutique, Bon Qui Qui manages to insult everyone from Alessandra Ambrosio to A$AP Rocky with her in your face brand of customer service. For anyone who has ever worked retail, or had an especially crazy shopping experience this clip will make you crack a smile.

CALVIN KLEIN PRESENTS PROVOCATIONS

Calvin Klein has a long history of memorable advertisements that push boundaries with a strong dose of sex appeal and their latest fashion film, Provocations adds to their oeuvre with a slick Fabien Baron helmed vision of minimalist eroticism. Starring actor, Alexander Skarsgard and Suvi Koponen, the avant garde ad provides some truly remarkable imagery.

LANVIN S/S13

Alber Elbaz is one of fashion’s true characters, so it is great to see the Lanvin campaign inject some of the designer’s personality into the mix with Elbaz providing running commentary on the Steven Meisel images of Christian GarciaDaria StrokousKarlie KlossKristoffer HasslevallMichael Lange and Saskia de Brauw. Alber’s enthusiasm is downright contagious – we wouldn’t mind hearing his commentary on every Lanvin video from here on!

The Look of Ryan McGinley

December 10th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Ryan McGinley‘s evolution from downtown documentarian, to creator of slick fashion imagery has been one of the most interesting progressions in recent memory. The worlds of art photography and fashion photography have always had a bit of overlap, but in recent years the lines have blurred, with talented photographers moving between boundaries with ease and creating work that satisfies the tenants of either style. McGinley has always had a knack for capturing his subjects at their most unfiltered, whether that means a candid snap of a skateboarder, a hedonistic nude shot in the upstate wilds, or an elegant portrait of a top model or celebrity. There is always something unguarded and fresh about his images that makes them memorable and sets them apart. The dreamy scenarios and saturated colors that dominate his fashion work, make his pictures among the most compelling contributions to magazines of late. Take a look back through is work and see why we’re wild for the McGinley take on things.
