Come As You Are

March 26th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The Daria Werbowy magic is alive and well on the cover of i-D Magazine. In the second issue since the magazine’s revamp Karim Sadli delivers a stripped down shot of Werbowy covering one eye for the signature i-D wink. Dressed to perfection by Alastair McKimm the minimalist style she’s come to embody, Daria’s tattooed ring finger and nonchalant grace give you a hint of devil may care personality. Curious about the woman behind the portrait? The accompanying interview fills in the blanks taking readers into Werbowy’s private world of sailing, Ashtanga yoga and her beloved pup, Strawballz.

Modern Vintage

May 6th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Karim Sadli captures the season’s off-kilter classicism with a vintage inspired story starring Tess Hellfeuer in the latest British Vogue. Wearing Francesca Burns selected pieces that mix refinement with a touch of street smart edge Tess is a picture of youthful grace. Sadli’s simple, effective imagery captures the rising beauty at her best, while Hellfeuer’s serene presence in front of the camera makes her one of the new editorial stars to watch.

Ad Network

January 16th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

More fabulous fashion ads keep coming in, take a look at the latest.

TOM FORD

Tom Ford – Designer & Photographer | Orlando Pita – Hair Stylist | Charlotte Tilbury – Makeup Artist |Karlina Caune & Simon Van Meervenne – Models

We can always count on Tom Ford for an epitomized version of modern glamour and his latest campaign delivers with sleek shots by Ford himself of Karlina Caune and Simon Van Meervenne. Playing to his strengths the designer / photographer / director / provocateur creates simple images that focus on those decadent designs. Who needs exotic locations and complicated set ups when you have the beauty of those golden to the knee sandals and fringed shoes! Karlina and Simon look pretty damn good too, both models capture the slightly dangerous and oh so sexy vibe of Ford’s ethos.

ALEXANDER WANG

Alexander Wang
 – Designer | Steven Klein – Photographer | Pascal Dangin – Art Director | Malgosia Bela – Model

Given the memorable way Wang presented his S/S collection’s glow in the dark dresses, we were expecting a campaign with flashing lights, or blinding neons from Alexander Wang. Never one to go for the obvious thrill, Wang enlists Steven Klein and Pascal Dangin for an evocative campaign featuring the Malgosia Bela. The beauty of these images lies in the artistic way in which the clothing is presented: with her body painted in white and the stark backdrop, Malgosia looks more like a performance artist than a model. As the Wang label enters into its next stage of development this campaign provides a dynamic and eye-catching brand message.

KENZO

Jean Paul Goude – Photographer | Anthony Turner – Hair Stylist | Aaron de Mey – Makeup Artist | Humberto Leon & Carol Lim – Creative Directors | Jester White & Ming Xi – Models

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Kenzo’s F/W ads by Jean Paul Goude were arresting and upbeat – they even made our best of 2012 list and for S/S the saga continues with Ming Xi and Jester White picking up where things left off. We didn’t think it would be possible, but these ads are even more colorful and kooky than the first set.

AKRIS

Karim Sadli – Photographer | Anthony Turner – Hair Stylist | Hannah Murray – Makeup Artist | Alana Zimmer – Model

Karim Sadli shoots Akris’ understated S/S ads featuring Alana Zimmer. Akris has always been about luxury that whispers instead of shouts and Saldi does an excellent job of communicating that message visually. Albert Kriemler’s elegantly minimal designs look especially beautiful set against the lush green backdrop and Alana is as lovely as ever.

ROBERTO CAVALLI

Roberto Cavalli – Designer | Mario Testino  – Photographer | Marie Chaix – Fashion Editor/Stylist | Sam McKnight – Hair Stylist | Charlotte Tilbury – Makeup Artist | Jack Flanagan – Set Designer | Lorraine Griffin – Manicurist

Roberto Cavalli’s clothes are not for wallflowers, so it makes sense that the S/S campaign features three of the boldest and mostt compelling models around. Isabeli Fontana, Malgosia Bela and Sui He star in Mario Testino‘s kinetic images filled with bold prints, saturated colors and the brand’s signature in your face opulence.

East Meets West

November 13th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Asia and its diverse cultures have long had an unmistakable impact on the industry, but in recent years the influence has been especially prevalent. The growth of the Asian market and the rise of a new generation of influential Asian talents has prompted designers and photographers to look East in search of inspiration. The F/W runways were filled with pieces whose details seemed cribbed from traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean fashions. Two fresh editorials showcase the season’s East Asian-inspired fashions in uniquely beautiful ways.

First Fabien Baron reinterprets the myth of the samurai in Interview with a striking and suitably stark story that owes as much to history as it does to larger-than-life, action-packed anime. Meghan Collison stars in Baron’s expressive fantasy and brandishes a katana as she poses in looks from Haider Ackermann, Gareth Pugh, and Issey Miyake. Karl Templer‘s styling prowess is on full display, even as he mixes together the perfect modern approximation of the samurai look. | View the full story on Interview.com

Vogue China‘s interpretation is no less elegant, but the approach is softer and sexier. Karim Sadli shoots the always alluring Liu Wen in pieces that focus on rich embroidery and detailed pattern. Set against the refined backdrop of an airy drawing room and featuring a host of Balmain, Proenza, and Dries van Noten selected by Alastair McKimm, the story offers an alternative imagining of this look. There are no well-dressed warriors or brandished swords, just a beautiful girl looking especially chic.

Big Timers

September 27th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Karim Sadli shoots an impressive play on proportion for The Gentlewoman. The elegant black and white story stars the always effervescent, Malgosia Bela and features a variety of oversized pieces, selected by Jonathan Kaye (New York: Management + Artists, Paris: Management + Artists) that serve as understated necessities. The clothes don’t call attention to themselves, yet they remain essentials – reminds us of a certain iconic model and an oh so cool publication.

MO & Co.

September 19th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Mo & CO Freja Beha from models.com on Vimeo.

Sometimes it’s all about the ease, Freja Beha Erichsen brings her trademark nonchalance to the F/W ads for MO&Co. de Paris, fronting the Karim Sadli helmed campaign in a series of looks that play up her androgynous charm and infinite skills in front of the camera. Clad in casual fur coats, slouchy suiting, leather skirts and adorable deer ears for a touch of whimsy, Freja brings the season’s look to life. Check her out in the campaign and its corresponding film.
