Hard Rain

August 12th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Karen Langley can turn out a great fashion story, even when the clothes are drenched in water. Langley uses her styling skill in the latest Dazed and Confused in Will Davidson‘s water logged tribute to fall’s finery. The story is as gritty as we’ve come to expect from Dazed, but the top notch casting of Lisanne de Jong, Lauren Brown, Ali Carr, Emily Wake and Lia Serge, all sporting hair looks by Shin Arima adds another layer of enjoyment.

Grey Gardens

Kristen McMenamy heads off a special fashion double header with appearances in two style bibles. First, the iconic Ms. McMenamy snags the cover of August’s Dazed & Confused, with a haunting shot by photog Tierney Gearon in upstate New York. Styled by Karen Langley, in clothes befitting the rustic theme, the story is another example of Dazed’s commitment to cool.

American Vogue takes Kristen in a completely different direction with a sleek editorial by David Sims; with her waist length silver hair and austere demeanor, she compliments the minimal designs from Fendi and Armani perfectly.

To Wild Hearts

November 12th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Dazed and Confused and Abbey Lee Kershaw are always a great combination, remember the incredible jet black Nick Knight cover from last year? For December’s cover, Abbey delves into her wild side. Stylist Karen Langley provides the feathers, furs and horns but the attitude is all Abbey. Daniel Jackson‘s gritty photographs show an untamed side of the Aussie model and provide a showcase for some of fall’s most unorthodox pieces.

Shape Shifter

Collaboration is what makes fashion great. The latest Dazed & Confused pays tribute to the fashions of 80s innovator Maria Blaisse and her legendary sculptural shapes. Jason Kibbler‘s pictures of Hana Soukupova wearing pieces from Givenchy and Margiela reworked by stylist Karen Langley and set designer Gary Card to mimic the signature Blaisse look, are cool and dynamic. As always Hana manages to bring that extra touch of elegance but each element of the story can stand alone.

Campaign Contributions

July 15th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

The F/W campaigns continue to emerge and with each new ad there is something different to take in. Myf Shepherd and Olga Sherer don fedoras for Sonia Rykiel’s girlish campaign while Anja Rubik reprises her role as face of Giuseppe Zanotti in the Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin helmed campaign. The Eastern bloc power trio of Sasha Pivovarova, Anna Selezneva and Natasha Poly take on Phi this season in a series of  Steven Meisel images that looks very supermodel. Last but certainly not least, Jessica Stam‘s feline beauty shines for Fendi. Karl Lagerfelds smoky shots of Stam looking elegant are an unexpected treat.

Which campaigns have stood out for you this season?
