Striking A Chord

February 8th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

This season has been full of striking ads and the latest batch doesn’t disappoint when it comes to arresting visuals.

ALEXANDER McQUEEN
Ph. David Sims | Stylist: Camilla Nickerson

McQueen goes angelic for S/S with Zuzanna Bijoch posing in a heavenly Sims shot that calls to mind classic religious imagery.

CELINE
Ph. Juergen Teller

Juergen’s ads for Celine are instantly recognizable, but throw in the all star cast of Marie Piovesan and Stella Tennant and you have the makings of an unforgettable ad.

PRABAL GURUNG
Ph. Daniel Jackson | Stylist: Tiina Laakkonen | Hair: Didier Malige | Makeup: Hannah Murray

Is there anything Candice Swanepoel can’t do? The South African beauty pulls off dark hair and some serious yoga poses in the debut ads for Prabal’s label. Those stunning violet dresses from the show have never looked better.

EDUN
Ph. Ryan McGinley | Models: Bradley Soileau, Charlotte Free, David, Dempsey Stewart, Ehren Dorsey, and Herieth Paul

Butterflies float across the page in Ryan McGinley’s ethereal shots for Edun. The soft colors and cast of ultra-cool newcomers makes this shoot memorable.

Step Into Spring

December 21st, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Spring’s fresh campaigns keep coming in – take a look at the latest and tell us which are your favorites!

Mariacarla Boscono for Yves Saint Laurent by David Sims

Sporting streamlined eyebrows by Diane Kendal and short bangs Guido Palau, Mariacarla looks strong and sexy in David Sims’ campaign for the mega-brand. After over a decade of campaigns helmed by either Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin or Juergen Teller Sims’ sleek style feels fresh.

Gisele Bundchen for Givenchy by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott

Life’s a beach for the Givenchy girl and Tisci’s surf & scuba inspired collection shines on the backs of Gisele Bundchen & brand muse Mariacarla Boscono. Posing alongside boogie boards in M&M’s subdued shots, the duo looks chic albeit slightly grim. After last season’s aggressive ads this is an interesting change of pace.

Kasia Struss for Moschino by Juergen Teller

The Moschino travel diary continues; this season the brand jets to Rome to create some classic Italian ambiance complete with vintage Fiats circling Kasia Struss and the Colosseum as a backdrop. Viva Moschino!

Raquel Zimmermann for Nina Ricci by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin

The Nina Ricci sensibility has always been about feminine & ethereal designs. Inez & Vinoodh’s campaign images capture that ideal with a shot of Raquel Zimmermann rushing across the hall in a Peter Copping designed gown fit for a princess.

In the Raw

June 15th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Juergen Teller and Kristen McMenamy, two of fashion’s iconoclasts come together for 032C in an expressive story shot in the estate of famed Italian architect Carlo Mollino. Given that neither Juergen or Kristen is known for their restraint, the story is as uninhibited as one would expect.

Spring Awakening

December 15th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

S/S Campaigns are trickling in and from the looks of it we can expect an exciting and inventive season of fresh ads. Two of our favorites to debut are from houses who consistently provide great imagery.

Juergen Teller creates a colorful romp for Marc Jacobs’ ads, featuring Caroline Brasch Nielsen and Masha Kirsanova. Wearing straw hats and bright 70s inspired looks from the collection, the duo looks reminiscent of Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver.

Givenchy’s spring ads by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott are minimal and stark – in contrast to last season’s bright poppy colors. The campaign featuring Daphne Groeneveld, albino male model Stephen Thompson, Iris Strubegger and of course, Mariacarla Boscono.

Man Oh Man

July 16th, 2010 |Posted by Betty

Let’s not forget some of our favorite men coming out this fall. Man of the season Oleg Antosik cuts a striking figure for cK Calvin Klein by Fabien Baron. The always in demand Sean O’Pry headlines a stellar and sophisticated cast of Mathias Bergh, Jake Davies and hot newcomer Corey Baptiste in a debonair DKNY Men campaign by Nathaniel Goldberg. You’ll be seeing much more of Nikola Jovanovic come fall, here’s a classic image of him by Emilio Tini for Gianfranco Ferre Eyewear. Ian O’Brien has been a recent editorial favorite; he breaks out here this season with his first major campaign for Marc by Marc Jacobs by perennial MJ lensman, Juergen Teller. Terron Wood showcases his versatility and dynamic moves for artist/director Robert Longo‘s turbulent Bottega Veneta campaign. All so different yet so marvelous. What catches your eye the most?
