I’ll never understand why they think that would be something people would want to buy. I don’t get it.” Yes, we don’t get it either, George.

Jourdan Dunn, goes mod for i-D in an editorial by Kerry Hallihan. With a little help, from Edward Enninfuls inspired style choices and a voluminous hairstyle courtesy of Malcolm Edwards‘ the British beauty takes on an entirely new look. Halluan’s pictures call to mind classic 1960s Vogue and Jourdan’s expressive poses give the shoot life.

Together Again

October 8th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Karlie Kloss and Jourdan Dunn just go together. Whether they are hanging out backstage or appearing side by side in editorials there is just something about the way these two compliment one another that makes for an incredible photograph. Emma Summerton taps into their undeniable chemistry for a Vogue Italia story with a flair for drama. Jourdan and Karlie are mysterious women who are strangely connected with Josh Beech and Ash Stymest at their side the two look pitch perfect. Dressed in fall’s exquisite coats and Alexander McQueen’s unweildy platforms the duo makes for a well matched pair. Edward Enninful‘s impressive styling techniques are on full display but so are Mathias van Hooff‘s makeup skills – the orange lips on Karlie are to die for.

The Dark Night

September 8th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

There is a darkness than underlies the drama of Paolo Roversi‘s latest story for Vogue Italia. Ymre Stiekema, Anna de Rijk, Heidi Mount, Toni Garrn, Rose Cordero, Viktoriya Sosonkina, Jourdan Dunn, Darya Kurovska, Imogen Morris-Clarke, Sigrid Agren and Constance Jablonski star in a series of images that are both fantastical and romantic. The luminous beauty of the finest couture pieces is juxtaposed against a dimly lit garden background and a cluttered pile of chairs but somehow it all comes together perfectly. The pictures are haunting and standout as an especially memorable spin on the couture editorial.

Bits and Bytes: Arthur Arrives

September 1st, 2009 |Posted by Betty

Arthur Sales/EP Models Brazil. Photos by Cristiano Madureira, courtesy of Made In Brazil.
Arriving this week is the amazing Arthur Sales from Recife, Brazil. Made in Brazil’s Juliano who has been tracking him since Arthur walked the DSquared show back in June, calls him one of the best Brazilian kids in a long time. Onset he is apparently like Caroline Trentini reincarnated as a guy. For more pics, click here. (with Elite Milan)

Dynamic duo: Marc Jacobs and Juergen Teller; Interview reviews the Marc Jacobs advertising book and for more Juergen fans, Cathyn Horyn talks to Juergen Teller.

Watch Karl Lagerfeld shoot Baptiste Giabiconi for Purple Fashion, with a giraffe and what looks like his cell phone. See some of his editorial here.

More Baptiste news, Naomi Campbell is envious of him!!

Here’s video of Jourdan Dunn and Chanel Iman from the i-D shoot. They talk about the pressures of being an ethnic model in this industry. The video is amazing, watch the girls work it, i-D’s signature winks and all, while Edward Enninful talks about the beauties.

More MTA’s (model turned actor). This time, it’s a male model, Trevor Donovan, who has shot D&G with Steven Klein and A&F with Bruce Weber and is on the next 90210.

WWD calls it the return of the “himbo” but mistakenly calls it a Numero shoot by Karl Lagerfeld, when it REALLY should be Lara Stone and the boys’ DSquared campaign by Mert and Marcus… Hmph, if they need help with boys they can certainly call us.. We know all the top males there is to know.

Supreme’s showcards reverberate down in Australia.

Mariano Vivanco shoots Megan Fox for Wonderland Magazine. She’s one of the few actresses that look like they could have been a model, especially in this moody shoot. See pics and behind the scenes video.

September’s Vogue Italia editorial by Steven Meisel has re-energized and re-invigorated me in a way that no editorial has done in a long time. The messiness, the fun, the contorted faces, the in your face energy is completely exuberant and what we need during these dour times. Vive la revolution!
For the entire ed, scanned by the lovely Diciassette, see Part 1 here and Part 2 here.

CK Two

June 22nd, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

The look for CK Calvin Klein is always sleek so its only natural that two of the most refined girls in the industry would wind up in the fall campaign.  Jourdan Dunn & Sigrid Agren hold on to each other as Craig McDean shoots the pair inside an almost absurdly luxurious looking car garage. With all the black leather and intense staring we can’t help but wonder what the inspiration behind these shots was.
