The Company You Keep

In celebration of i-D Magazine’s 35th birthday Alasdair McLellan (Art Partner) shoots a league of winking models, 18 to be exact, from the industry’s North Stars like Kate Moss, Malgosia BelaLara Stone and newly minted super Jourdan Dunn to a crop of next of kin muses like Anna Ewers, Natalie Westling and Grace Hartzel. The British photographer who is known for his pared down approach had his career launched by the iconic publication after his work caught the eye of stylist Simon Foxton. Since then he’s been part of the I-D family, so having him shoot the entire summer issue front to back seems a befitting concept. Surely fans of Alasdair McLellan’s work are already drooling.

Beyond the Pale

February 25th, 2015 |Posted by Janelle

A white dress can stand for many things: the purity of a wedding gown, the minimalism of a slip dress, or even the bohemian chic of a floor-grazing maxi dress. White as a color was embraced by fashion this spring with a variety of designers offering their own take on the classic LWD. For the latest Vogue Turkey photographer Cuneyt Akeroglu shoots several of the moment’s biggest faces in all-white looks that compliment each girl’s natural beauty. Alessandra Ambrosio, Jourdan Dunn,, Fei Fei Sun, Jessica Stam and Behati Prinsloo are radiant in Akeroglu’s photographs which display them at their most beautiful with little adornment beyond those beautiful pale dresses.

10’s Big Time Sensuality

January 30th, 2015 |Posted by Janelle

10 Magazine.
Nick Knight.
Victoria’s Secret.

The girls of VS unite for an edition of 10 that targets sensuality and glamour. In a special collaboration with and Nick Knight, editor in chief Sophia Neophitou reimagines the beauties of VS as futuristic pinups. Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Joan Smalls, Behati Prinsloo, Lais Ribeiro, Jourdan Dunn, Lily Donaldson, Devon Windsor, Sui He, Cindy Bruna, Barbara Fialho and Ming Xi feature in psychedelic portraits by Knight that radiate sexiness and beauty from his uniquely artistic perspective. The 12 covers are in part a commemoration of VS’s recent jaunt to London for its annual fashion show, but more than that they serve as a truly modern interpretation of sexiness a fact Neophitou cherishes, “Without a moment of hesitation I knew that the perfect person for this creative adventure would be Nick Knight. I can honestly say he surpassed every expectation I had and created a series of memorable, unique images.”

Well Dunn

Jourdan Dunn.
Patrick Demarchelier.
British Vogue.

As the first black model to gain a solo cover of Brit Vogue since Naomi Campbell nearly 12 years ago, Jourdan makes history yet again. Breaking barriers has become a Dunn trademark and it isn’t a role Jourdan takes lightly; racism, body image and succeeding as a single parent are among the topics touched on in the revealing interview and Jourdan tackles the questions like a pro.

“It’s hard being a model regardless, and then being a black model. I have heard, ‘Oh, we haven’t shown any black models this season.’ So blasé… It’s messed up,” she says. “I get uncomfortable when I read comments saying, ‘I wanna look like you, I wish I had your body.’ When I was growing up I didn’t love myself, or like what I saw in the mirror. Curves are celebrated in Caribbean culture, so I felt the odd one out. So my message is: be happy and love yourself.”

December 15th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Nothing beats a spectacular pairing of two generations of supermodel and Burberry Prorsum delivers all that and then-some with a gorgeous S/S campaign by Mario Testino featuring Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn. In keeping with the precedent set by the recent My Burberry ads starring Kate Moss & Cara, these new ads showcase the timelessness of Burberry’s signature pieces by featuring two of Britain’s best known faces in trenches and tartan shot by Mario Testino. (Art Partner) Christopher Bailey‘s colorful and dynamic spring collection comes to life in the accompanying video where Jourdan & Naomi smile and giggle while joined by male model musicians George Barnett and George Le Page, who round out the all British cast.
