All in the Details

August 11th, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

We called it a casting coup when Details assembled ten top models for the cover of their March 2014 issue, but they’ve outdone themselves for Fall, with a grand total of thirty-one outstanding faces appearing on the front of the new September issue out today. Longtime favorites like Brad Kroenig, Mark Vanderloo, Gabriel Aubry, Tyson Ballou, and Will Chalker are joined by newer faces, from Clark Bockelman and Daisuke Ueda to Arthur Gosse and Jackson Hale, photographed by Mark Seliger and all dressed in Calvin Klein’s different lines by Matthew Marden, with casting by Edward Kim. The accompanying feature within shows off the wide range of options for Fall, from slick suiting to sharp sportswear. Chalker proves his enduring appeal with a solo feature in sophisticated suits photographed by Greg Kadel and styled by Bill Mullen, while photographer Michael Schmelling and stylist Annie Psaltiras take on the season’s edgy knits in an athletic feature starring pro skaters Christian Hosoi and Haden McKenna. And Fall may be the season of colder temperatures and cloudy skies, but to prove it’s not all gloomy weather, Christopher Griffith and Marden celebrate the brighter side in an editorial starring Abiah Hostvedt and Kendall Harrison in vibrant outerwear. Take a look at our preview of the new issue below.

Seven For Spring

April 29th, 2015 |Posted by jonathanshia

British men’s biannual Seventh Man Magazine celebrates the arrival of spring this week with their latest issue, featuring a cheery Jon Kortajarena winking from the cover. He shows off his dance moves in a story within by Lawrence Thomas, dressed in vibrant prints by Dean Hau. The editor-in-chief Hau also photographs and styles Mariano Ontañon in a vivid feature, while John-Paul Pietrus brings a dark, moody Seventies vibe in his story. Michael Morgan and Jace Moody play with pups and Charlie Ayres Taylor and Jack Mather showcase Yohji Yamamoto’s menswear. Profiles of a clutch of rising British actors, including Russell Tovey and Matthew Beard—just nominated for a Tony for his work in Skylight—round out the issue, which also asks, in a feature spotlighting the season’s quirkiest pieces, “Who wants to be normal anyway?” Take a look at an exclusive preview of the new issue, out this week, below.

Upwards Over The Mountain

October 16th, 2014 |Posted by jonathanshia

This calls for a celebration! This season, the energetic Spanish menswear magazine Fucking Young celebrates its fifth anniversary with a powerful Fall/Winter 2014 issue on the theme of mountains, on newsstands today. The legendary Jon Kortajarena, shot by Hunter & Gatti (OPUS), stares out from a stony ground from the cover, and a similarly audacious spirit is visible throughout, in fourteen editorials with varied takes on the idea of rocky ascent. Linus Wordemann earns his mountaineering badge as a Boy Scout in Roman Goebel’s feature, while Max Rendell offers a technical, sporty take in Michiel Meewis’ story. Coco Capitan brings a DIY, Wes Anderson aesthetic to a shoot with Ben Waters, and Ilaria D’Atri offers lush atmospherics in “Vesuvius,” with Roberto Sipos. It’s a bold statement from a publication that is always moving onwards and upwards. “Although we’ve had great satisfactions along the way, we still have the feeling that we are climbing the slopes, slowly ascending,” the editors say. “The harder that it gets, the more satisfaction we get from getting a little bit higher. What is so special about a mountain and about conquering it?” Take a look at our exclusive preview of the issue below. To buy, click here.

Unexpected Pleasures

January 22nd, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Interview Germany continues its tradition of excellence with two new fashion stories that go for the unexpected. Cover star Lindsey Wixson turns in a stellar performance in Sebastian Faena‘s sensual story inspired by the films of Rainer Werner Fassbinder and filled with the same thrilling, avant-garde energy as his work (with set design by Jesse Kaufmann). Julia von Boehm styles Wixson and Jon Kortajarena in dramatic looks that echo the decadent costumes of movies like Lola.

Charlotte Wales and Clare Byrne provide a different kind of surprise with a spirited denim editorial focused on the very best in blue jeans. The fresh-faced cast was culled directly from New York high schools, providing a unique change of pace and a distinctive set of teen beauties.

The Music Men

March 28th, 2012 |Posted by models.com

This past week we were graced with new music videos by two pop divas and a queen. The month started when a Canadian singer Carly Rae Jespen debuted her music video for “Call Me Maybe” featuring the first in spring’s wave of videos with male models. Say goodbye to the days of the model video vixen, we welcome the presence of fashion’s finest men.

No stranger to a Lana Del Rey video, Bradley Soileau makes his second video appearance in “Blue Jeans” as her half-man-half-crocodile pool side lover.

What’s the best way to get over your cheating ex? Katy Perry makes her statement by enlisting with the Marines after catching Lucas Kerr red handed at the office in the “Part of Me” video. Let’s just hope that Katy and Baptiste Giabiconi can find a happier ending than that.

And never to be outdone, Madonna takes no prisoners in her Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott directed video by taking on not one, but five of the top male models in her video for “Girl Gone Wild.”

Fashion and music seem to go hand in hand and we can’t help but wonder; who will be the next fabulous face in this growing trend?

Who’s The Fairest?

August 16th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

VMan‘s Archetypes issue is right around the corner (September 1st to be exact) and who can resist a little peek at all the issue has to offer? Sebastian Faena recreates Greek mythology with a nod to Narcissus in his latest for the magazine. Jon Kortajarena plays a young man in love with his own reflection and we can’t say we blame him. Mary Fellowes dresses Jon in knits from Gaultier and Tom Ford: when you look that good it is hard not to indulge in a little narcissism.
