Artistic Flair

December 5th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin join forces with contemporary artist, Francesco Vezzoli for the latest covers of Flair. Inez & Vinoodh shoot muses Hilary Rhoda, Milla Jovovich, Karlie Kloss and Jessica Miller in elegant black and white portraits where the girls sport statement jewelry – including pieces from I&V’s eponymous line. Vezzoli puts an unusual twist on things via the addition of classical collage, merging marble sculptures with the stately photography.

Spotlight On: Weir Diary

July 24th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Though he’s known for putting together some of the most flawless casts imaginable — see Viktor & Rolf‘s stunning lineup of top tier beauties, and the eclectic group of worldly gents he selected for Berluti – casting director Andrew Weir still finds time to capture the biz’s most beautiful faces in his candid blog, Weir Diary. Getting to the heart of his subjects with honest snapshots that capture them looking unguarded and beautiful, Weir has created an intimate look at fashion from an insider perspective.

Bare Essential

July 11th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

With their nude photography Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin have always gone beyond simply sexualizing their subjects and instead pushed towards an artistic and sensual exploration of the human form. In 25 Magazine they capture the always enticing Jessica Miller at her rawest and most daring. Wearing the bare minimum of seasonal finery selected by Melanie Ward and posing with absolute abandon, Jessica looks fierce, free and utterly captivating.

The Look of Hans Feurer

May 24th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

As fashion’s foremost purveyor of nomad chic, Hans Feurer‘s images are unmistakable. Though his body of work is diverse, the pictures that stand out most tend to feature a series of Feurer signatures; layered undone styling, exotic locations and bold tribal makeup. Look at his latest stories for Vogue Paris and Vogue Japan respectively and you’ll see all the trademarks of his aesthetic. VP’s Karmen Pedaru story goes for a harder edge, while his images of Constance Jablonski are all about highlighting her refined beauty, but both stories hinge on variations of the same idea. Take a glimpse back at Feurer’s work over the years and see how he developed the style he’s now known for.

2012 – Karmen Pedaru for Vogue Paris

2012 – Constance Jablonski for Vogue Japan

2011 – Jourdan Dunn for Vogue Paris

2011 – Natasha Poly for Vogue Paris

2010 – Tony Ward for GQ Style Germany

2008 – Erin Heatherton for Muse Magazine

2008 – Scott Barnhill

2007 Jessica Miller for Self Service no. 27

2001 – Erin Wasson for Vogue Paris

1991 – Beverly Peele for Elle France

1983 - American Vogue

Russh’s Rebels

April 4th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

The Russh perspective is all about a certain kind of girl; youthful, instinctively cool and the type to wear her heart on her sleeve rather than a label. The April/May issue focuses on staying true to your passions while keeping it real and features a series of women who fit right in with the mag’s artsy-chic ethos. Jane Birkin, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and actress Clémence Poesy could all be considered Russh girls and the insightful interviews of each are a real treat.

Editorially the issue takes its cues from the women who inspired it with a series of dreamy editorials that feel natural and unfussy. Whether it is Josefien Rodermans sipping a milkshake or Jess Gold lounging in the season’s knitwear, these stories look like they could be pulled from real life. Even the stark studio shoot with Jessica Miller, doesn’t feel forced or unnatural.

Miller Time

June 15th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Sean and Seng take Jessica Miller in new directions for Numero, enlisting the expressive Ms. Miller for a slick studio shoot that makes good use of her skill for expressive posing. Stylist Franck Benhamou dresses Jess in body conscious looks that make use of her toned physique, while Lloyd Simmonds and Franco Gobbi add high gloss hair and makeup for good measure.

The Feminine Mystique

February 18th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

There is something about the way Mario Sorrenti creates a picture that just brings out the best in his subjects. In the latest issue of W, Sorrenti takes 18 of the most beautiful models and shoots them looking seductive and sensual: some of the pictures work better than others but he manages to capture the essence of each girl.
