Artistic Inspiration

April 10th, 2014 |Posted by jonathanshia

The menswear scene has taken an artistic bent of late, with a new season rife with references to painters, sculptors, and other creative minds. Spanish magazine Fucking Young offers a direct appeal in their latest edition, with a Spring issue built around the theme of the museum. Michiel Meewis offers a striking cover image, with Bastiaan Van Gaalen dressed by Ginger Clark in Kenzo’s wave-print coat, his face painted in a riot of soft white strokes. The stories within offer a refreshing variety of artistic scope, from Phil Dunlop’s rich Victorian-inspired portraits to Jay Schoen’s sleek study of pure minimalism, the latest rewards of the long and lasting interaction between fashion and art.
