Simply Sims

July 23rd, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

If you love the work of David Sims, then you’re going to love August’s Vogue Paris; Sims’ sleek style gets 65 pages worth of editorial space within the issue. Carine Roitfeld styles the massive portfolio of fall looks from labels like Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen and the pictures don’t miss a beat. Sims mixes studio shots, location shots, color and black and white for an editorial that covers a great deal of designer territory; each brand gets an image that is uniquely theirs and each girl looks gorgeous in her pictures.

Drama Class

July 14th, 2010 |Posted by Betty

Fall continues its dramatic turn in the latest campaign images.Monica “Jac” Jagaciak and Frida Gustavsson are startled by something off camera; as captured by Juergen Teller for Marc Jacobs’ widely applauded F/W 10 collection. Lily Donaldson and Sasha Pivovarova perch precariously for Mario Sorrenti on a cliff in Kenzo’s incredible prints. What is Karmen Pedaru escaping in Emporio Armani? The fog? Spies? Whatever it may be, Sorrenti’s images make her look absolutely chic. Ellen von Unwerth‘s black and white images for Guess have people swooning for Silviu Tolu‘s arresting face, so evocative of 50’s matinee idols.

Classical Influence

April 9th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Steven Meisel presents a classic view for Vogue Italia: the stylized portraits featured in April’s cover story seem timeless. Led by the iconic Amber Valletta and Angela Lindvall, models Joan Smalls, Lara Stone, Freja Beha Erichsen, Giedre Dukauskaite, Gwen Loos, Jac Jagaciak and Abbey Lee Kershaw, manage to look like true stars in the short and shrunken looks crafted by Karl Templer. The barely there ensembles, emphasize Spring’s focus on all things small, but the one of a kind hair creations courtesy of Guido Palau are larger than life.
