The Block Is Hot

April 12th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Nothing better than an early look at new fashion content and the latest issue of The Block Magazine is chock full of striking imagery featuring faves from the worlds of  music, fashion, art and film. Dubbed the “Issue of Marriage Equality” the Block is covered by three standouts, Garbage’s iconic singer the flame haired Shirley Manson, stunning top model Ymre Stiekema and everyone’s favorite poser / artist / actor the quirky Boyd Holbrook.

Of course we don’t judge a mag by its cover alone, because inside The Block there is plenty to love. Jeff Hahn‘s emotive images of real life couples, Tom Allen’s dreamy stills featuring the work of choreographer Justin Peck, Victor Demarchelier‘s NYC themed showcase for  Didier Malige‘s fascinating hair artistry story and Hugh Lippe‘s stark exploration of cutting edge menswear, all caught our eye. Don’t take our word for it of course – have a look at our exclusive preview to see some of the most striking shots inside the issue.

Russh Hour

February 1st, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Russh never fails to create a dreamy, feminine and oh so inviting vision of fashion and their latest issue is no exception to the rule. With a heavenly shot of Mirte Maas by Hugh Lippe adorning the cover and a series of ethereal editorials inside this is another of the month’s magazine must haves. Issue #44 focuses on “everlasting love” and the sentimental theme carries through all the stories. Whether it is Elle Muliarchyk capturing Elsa Sylvan through rose colored lenses or Imogen Morris-Clarke looking delicate in Stephen Ward‘s beauty story, each image is filled with a sweetness that is downright charming.

Journal Entrée

June 7th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

the journal is quickly becoming one of our favorite magazines and with good reason, each issue provides us with fashion content that is gritty, yet easy on the eyes. Hugh Lippe‘s pared down and sexy shots of Aymeline Valade showcase the French stunner’s enviable physique and streamlined designs chosen by stylist Keegan Singh in images that hit all the right notes.

Bits & Bytes: Hanne on a Summery Day

May 21st, 2010 |Posted by Betty

hanne1
Hanne by Andrew. On a lovely Friday in New York, Hanne stops by to see Andrew Weir for a casting.

Photography news:

Unbelievable! David Bailey has worked with British Vogue for 50 years. See all the lovely ladies that came out to honor him. We salute you David!

Find out here about the Made in Brazil Magazine filled with some of the sexiest of male models of today (and where to order it). Part 2 is here. Get it, it’s a collector’s piece. We are announcing MODELS.com’s winners of the giveaways next week.

The Imagist has a fascinating interview with Hugh Lippe, definitely a young, talented photographer to watch.

Haiti is no longer so prevalent in the news but that doesn’t mean the Haitians need any less help. Look at these incredible images in a Art for Haiti auction that just began. Stam is in 2 of the shots; all the artwork is phenomenal and starting at outrageously affordable prices and for such a great cause; it’s a must see.

For those of you bemoaning the lack of naked women or breasts or just general salaciousness on Terry Richardson’s blog, don’t you fret… Andrew Richardson‘s Magazine is relaunching any day now. No, they are not related, except maybe metaphorically speaking in their obvious love for breasts.

If you’re in Paris, go check out the wonderful Ellen von Unwerth Cinema exhibition. (Till June 19th)

Not modeling related but how cool is Jed Root’s photographer Mary Ellen Matthews who is Saturday Night Live’s house photographer?

Fashion:

Why Riccardo Tisci matters. Here is Sans Artifice’s take on it.

If you missed it, Alber Elbaz, talks to Style.com in their Future of Fashion series.

OK. I finally get the hype about young Tavi now. Just read this post by her on the whole recent Terry kerfuffle and am blown away by the insightfulness of this 14 year old young lady.

Like 10 Magazine, we are obsessing over this bag. And damn you Tommy Ton for suddenly making us want all of these.

Katie Grand pens this moving tribute to industry powerhouse Katy Baggot who passed away so suddenly.

Anna Sui‘s book is coming out and we cannot wait! With an introduction by Steven Meisel, expect the book to have much fabulousness.

Anne Christensen rumored to fill the top slot at the New York Times’ T Magazine. We’ll let you know if it’s not true.

Modeling news:

From Marpessa to Carla Bruni to Mariacarla Boscono, former model turned agent to the superstars, Woman Milan’s Piero Piazzi is amazing. Read his interview and see a picture of him!

Talk about inspirational. Fernando Fernandes, you may remember got paralyzed from a car accident (see him here in the current Dolce Gabbana fragrance campaign) . He’s already in a new ad which just shot.

OK, this trailer made me cry. Incredible model/activist Liya Kebede, in Desert Flower, rocks my world portraying the incredible model/activist Waris Dirie.

Next in line to design is Irina Lazareanu, calling it Rini by Irina. She has phenomenal style though so it could be pretty darn good.

This just in. 9 Daughter & A Stereo, who repped some of the coolest, quirkiest boys around, is rumored to have closed. So sad if that’s true.

Uncensored!

July 17th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Tony Ward is one of fashion’s great risk takers. With his no holds barred attitude, unforgettable look and willingness to push any and all boundaries, Ward has become one of the industry’s most iconic male models. The latest photo story for Contributing Editor gets to the root of why Ward remains one of fashion’s most notorious figures. Hugh Lippe‘s intimate photographs capture the essence of Ward’s libertine appeal, showing Tony looking as suggestive, carefree and sinful as ever.
