Away We Stay

November 9th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Top models and advertising often go hand and hand, but what happens when a brand outside the realm of fashion utilizes famous faces to add a touch of glamour to their repertoire? To celebrate the launch of W Hotel’s London outpost a new film ‘Away We Stay’ takes two of the industry’s most recognizable faces – Helena Christensen and David Gandy and casts them as would be lovers. The engaging short film written and directed by Edoardo Ponti, and produced by Katrina Pavlos presents a familiar romantic dilemma. Faced with the choice between her thriving career as a fashion photographer and running away with a handsome stranger, Christensen’s character, Alex must choose love or success.

Inimitable

November 18th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

You can’t beat the supermodels. It has been more than 20 years since the supers first appeared on the scene, yet they retain their inimitable presence. The Winter edition of i-D is all about timelessness and Kayt Jones‘ cover of Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen and Claudia Schiffer (all @ 1 Model Management) illustrates the theme perfectly. The simple black and white shot of the trio looking like goddesses, showcases the beauty and undeniable it factor that have kept all three at the top of the heap for so long.

Now that you’ve seen our exclusive preview of the cover – what are your favorite Eva, Helena & Claudia moments?

Keep It Real

August 11th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

With fashion’s full-fledged youth obsession it’s easy to forget that beauty is something that has nothing to do with age. In September’s Bazaar, eight of the most enduring beauties around go bare faced for Peter Lindbergh and the results are thought provoking.  Amber Valletta, Shalom Harlow, Kristen McMenamy, Helena Christensen, Nadja Auermann, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Tatjana Patitz are all stunning but seeing them without makeup, excessive retouching or complicated styling adds a new layer to their allure.

Still Got It

July 9th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

True classics never go out of style – the original supermodels always manage to make their presence felt and this month’s Vogue Italia showcases some of our old familiar favorites looking incredible. Mario Sorrenti shoots Helena Christensen, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova and Christy Turlington in a series of shots that are pure glamour. Sadly, only 4 supers are featured – which 90s era models would you love to see shot by Sorrenti? My vote goes to La Linda.

Bits and Bytes: New London

May 29th, 2009 |Posted by Betty

Dazed and Confused highlights their picks of the new crop of London boys in this video. Robbie Wadge (above pic), Daniel Hicks and former Model of the Weeks Isaac Carew and Gavin Jones all make an appearance. Just ignore the strange robotic voiceover.

More tidbits from the September Issue. And it’s juicy. This is one fashion documentary we cannot wait for.

FYI, Mango replaces Penelope Cruz with Scarlett Johansson. At least in this case it’s a celebrity replacing a celebrity and not taking the few bookings left from the poor models!

Check out this half Japanese, half Italian male model from Brazil; we love how diverse and gorgeous the Brazilians are.

More sad recession news. Following on the heels of Christian Lacroix filing for bankruptcy is reports of Veronique Branquinho folding her  line.

Maybe this will stay the heavy hand of the fashion retouchers (see Gwyneth Paltrow’s different jawlines in the link).

If you haven’t seen it already, Forbes has their list of new top earning models!

Miuccia Prada, the reluctant fashionista, gives her first interview in 3 years.

Frances Grill, founder of Click Models and discoverer of Uma Thurman and Whitney Houston, talks about her years in the business.

There’s a new rock-n-roll kid in town and Production is into him.

Check out the models and stars on Burberry’s night. See Helena Christensen, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld and Molly Sims.

Gisele Bundchen‘s in Versace for F/W 09. By Mario Testino. Against a wall. Again.

The Ones2Watch has 2 especially gorgeous newcomers: Moldova’s Xenia (just signed with IMG) and Rami from Argentina.

At Home With Helena

April 24th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

In addition to being a supermodel and established photographer Helena Christensen is known for her strong sense of style. Nowhere is this more evident than in her own apartment which boasts an eclectic mix of art, personal keepsakes and of course fashion memorabilia. The Danish beauty shares a glimpse at her downtown loft with Vogue Paris and the interiors are just as bohemian and unique as you’d expect from a model as artistically-minded as Helena.
