All Tomorrow’s Parties

November 22nd, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Toni Garrn, Rose Smith, David Agbodji, Ian Mellencamp, Arthur Kulkov, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Lykke Li and Sky Ferreira all in one room: must be another night at the Standard. Harper’s Bazaar heads to the hotel’s fabled Boom Boom room for a story that sets out to capture the vibrant energy of Manhattan’s late night scene. With a mix of models, actors, actresses, musicians, a cameo from artist Richard Phillips and even a glimpse of New York’s reigning social fixture Derek Blasberg the story by Alexi Lubomirski gets the feel of rooftop party right.  Brana Wolf‘s selective styling never fails to impress and here she features a range of looks, from classic chic Dior to offbeat Miu Miu. All in all the story is gorgeous – with one small flaw, David’s handsome face barely makes it into any images! The party could have benefited from a few shots of Mr. Agbodji.

Winter Wonderland

October 24th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

As the world’s cutest high fashion model Eniko Mihalik‘s presence automatically adds a touch of the adorable to any editorial. Not that Harper’s Bazaar‘s latest story needed any help in that department – the combo of fairytale setting and puppies was enough to make Terry Richardson‘s wintry story styled by Julia von Boehm, feel like a treat.

Blue Mood

August 15th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

It is always a pleasure to see Camilla Akrans‘s slick vision of luxury in the pages of Harper’s Bazaar and her September story featuring Bette Franke is an especially luxe endeavor. With candy colored furs chosen by Brana Wolf and a picturesque seaside backdrop, the story is a blue tinted vision of extravagance.

Keep It Real

August 11th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

With fashion’s full-fledged youth obsession it’s easy to forget that beauty is something that has nothing to do with age. In September’s Bazaar, eight of the most enduring beauties around go bare faced for Peter Lindbergh and the results are thought provoking.  Amber Valletta, Shalom Harlow, Kristen McMenamy, Helena Christensen, Nadja Auermann, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Tatjana Patitz are all stunning but seeing them without makeup, excessive retouching or complicated styling adds a new layer to their allure.

The Dutchess

September 25th, 2008 |Posted by Janelle

With her aristocratic background and patrician good looks Stella Tennant is as quintessentially British as it gets. In this month’s Harper’s Bazaar the enigmatic icon pays tribute to another fashion forward Brit – her fabled ancestor Georgina, the Dutchess of Devonshire. With Tennant posing in the most ornate couture, fellow blue-blood Lady Amanda Harlech styling and Karl Lagerfeld capturing it all on film it’s truly a royal affair.
