Ray of Light

February 20th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The sands of the suburban Southwest are given a high fashion touch in the new issue of Elle with a striking editorial that showcases some of the best in reflective fashions. Laurie Bartley (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists) shoots Lakshmi Menon looking chic in sparkling pieces from Proenza SchoulerGivenchyGucci and more selected by stylist  Samira Nasr. (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists) The location’s faded neutral tones make the pieces pop, especially when the sun catches some of the monochromatic metallic ensembles giving them a liquid metal look. With her newly cropped hair and powerful gaze Lakshmi brings a strength to every shot, even when she’s wearing little more than strategically placed gold flakes.

Beauty & the Beast

February 20th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

A tale as old as time! Beautiful young woman, a ravenous beast and Karl Lagerfeld? Continuing with their theme of fairytales CR Fashion Book unleashes another modern take on a classic story with Kate Upton and Marlon Teixeira re-imagining Beauty & the Beast with a luxury twist. Karl shoots and Kate dons an assortment of sensual looks complete with Agent Provocateur lingerie and a touch of Chanel joaillerie for good measure. Though it’s hard to see anything even remotely off-putting about a Givenchy clad Marlon Teixeira, the story provides the right mix of fantasy and fashion.

Mystical Season

January 30th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The artistry of the season’s most talked about collections comes to the pages of  Vogue Japan in an expressive story by Paolo Roversi. Starring a trio of white-hot platinum blonde beauties and featuring several of the season’s most esoteric collections, the story provides an appealing roundup of spring’s detail oriented designs.  Maja Salamon, Ola Rudnicka and Sasha Luss feature in Roversi’s images wearing pattern heavy pieces selected by Nicoletta Santoro (New York: Management + Artists, Paris: Management + Artists) and sporting intense glares. The only thing more alluring than the girls are all those exquisite collection separates – CélinePradaMarniGivenchy and even a touch of fashion’s print master, Dries Van Noten.

INTERMISSION consistently presents its readers with some of the most striking imagery around, enlisting a edgy lineup of boundary pushing photographers, stylists and makeup artists to create stories that resonate long after you’re finished reading the magazine. For fall the issue comes jam packed with art, culture and of course fashion. The four covers and accompanying features run the gamut from elegant takes on the season’s runway essentials, to atmospheric black and whites. Patrik Sehlstedt‘s moody shots of Meghan Collison capture her dark beauty perfectly, while stylist Brian Molloy’s mix of textured outerwear and wintry layers serves as the perfect complement to the rustic setting.

Richard Burbridge shoots and Ondria Hardin poses – doesn’t get much better than that. Hardin is a natural in front of the camera and seeing her in streamlined looks from Céline and Stella McCartney, just makes sense. Burbridge is never one to simply offer a straightforward story and there is always a twist to be expected when he’s shooting, here he utilizes texture and lighting to great effect creating pictures that reveal the detail behind even the most pared down pieces.

El Bambi

October 24th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Never underestimate the power of a well placed bit of cartoon magic; each season Riccardo Tisci comes up with at least one Givenchy must have that makes a splash and for the last few months its been all about Bambi. The opening look of the designer’s critically lauded fall collection was a Disney inspired sweatshirt that added touch of twee to the typically hard-edged Givenchy look and instantly became a cult status symbol. The signature piece has been making waves in magazines of late with the Bambi shirt appearing on the cover of Vogue Japan, the newly launched Miss Vogue AustraliaVogue China and Madame Figaro, not to mention inside appearances in i-D Magazine & V Magazine. Add in the fact that this little number has also been spotted on the backs of everyone from Beyoncé Knowles to Carine Roitfeld and you have the makings of a moment.

Magical Realism

May 28th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Benjamin Alexander Huseby creates a dreamy tribute to one of the season’s key looks in the pages of The NY Times T Magazine. With its lush tropical backdrop and faded colors Huseby’s ethereal imagery has all the beauty of a carefree summer day, while Vanessa Traina‘s (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists) chic styling provides the fashion focus. Traina dresses Anais Mali in a refined series of looks that center around cinched waists, unfussy prints and just the right amount of skin. As always, Anais looks divine and the selection of GivenchyChristopher Kane and Prada is perfect for summer.
