Family Ties

June 17th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Riccardo Tisci‘s ads for Givenchy have long relied on a familiar theme – family, namely those fashionable characters Tisci counts amongst his band of Givenchy loyalists. As such you’ll always see familiar faces like Mariacarla Boscono, Jamie Bochert and Julia Nobis in the mix of a Tisci campaign alongside fresh Tisci approved faces like show opener Veroniek Gielkens, new face Alessio Pozzi and the buzzed about Kendall Jenner. This season the campaign’s lineup even includes a select number of stars whose lineage makes them fashion royalty – Stephanie Seymour‘s handsome son, Peter Brant Jr. makes his campaign debut in Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott (Art Partner)’s sleek imagery. With more images set to debut soon only time will tell how many will feature in this seasonal family reunion.

Fiesta of Solitude

June 2nd, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Emma Summerton creates a true fashion fantasy in the latest Vogue Japan, joining forces with Giovanna Battaglia for a sartorial tale where every look is a showstopper. Malaika Firth poses in key looks from Givenchy, Delpozo and Valentino, each one more intricate than the last. Battaglia fearlessly mixes in color, pattern and print for a maximalist look that works perfectly with Summerton’s saturated colors. Even with the barrage of attention grabbing designer looks and statement accessories Malaika’s natural beauty shines through – making her the perfect girl to carry off the editorial’s bombastic theme.

The Outsiders

April 15th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Fashion relies on outcasts, originals and those with a voracious need for what’s next – Dazed & Confused‘s latest issue salutes those visionary spirits. A Givenchy clad Mariacarla Boscono graces the first cover in an arresting image styled by Panos Yiapanis. Sporting multiple piercings and a wealth of sequins paired with simple tartans in Willy Vanderperre (Art Partner)’s cover shot, Mariacarla serves as the perfect representation of fashion fearlessness. The eternally cool Jamie Bochert sports archival Ann Demeulemeester styled by Katy England on her cover for an apt depiction of the nonchalant edginess Demeulemeester’s label embodies. Celebrated Belgian actors Matthias Schoenaerts and Veerle Baetens feature on two limited edition covers also shot by Vanderperre and styled by Robbie Spencer. The famous duo serve as the start of an epic 50 page fashion story dedicated to the rise of the Belgian underground and its cultural impact.

Ray of Light

February 20th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The sands of the suburban Southwest are given a high fashion touch in the new issue of Elle with a striking editorial that showcases some of the best in reflective fashions. Laurie Bartley (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists) shoots Lakshmi Menon looking chic in sparkling pieces from Proenza SchoulerGivenchyGucci and more selected by stylist  Samira Nasr. (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists) The location’s faded neutral tones make the pieces pop, especially when the sun catches some of the monochromatic metallic ensembles giving them a liquid metal look. With her newly cropped hair and powerful gaze Lakshmi brings a strength to every shot, even when she’s wearing little more than strategically placed gold flakes.
