Hercules Turns Ten

March 31st, 2016 |Posted by jonathan

Hercules Magazine celebrates ten years in appropriately momentous fashion, with five covers for their new Spring/Summer 2016 issue shot by Bruce Weber in the his inimitably fresh style. Actor (and son of Mick) James Jagger takes one cover, while Trevor Signorino, Odin Grina, and new face Kenny Dean also grace the other covers. Weber brings his sharp eye and athletic energy to a number of stories within the issue, which also finds Dominik Sadoch in easy sportswear for Alessio Boni and Andres Velencoso Segura looking sexy in a feature by Nico. Appropriately themed “Coming of Age,” the issue also spotlights rising actors Finn Wittrock and Raphaël Personnaz, all in the cause of welcoming in a bright new season and wishes for another bountiful ten years to come.

Take an exclusive first look at the issue below, available now exclusively at Dover Street Market, New York and London, and worldwide starting April 12.

Since its debut Vamp Magazine has been about powerful women, the kind who command attention whether they’re in the boardroom or on the catwalk. The editorial content follows suit with arresting new fashion stories, each one bolder than the last – take a first look below.

Club Tropicana

April 1st, 2014 |Posted by jonathan

This has been, in many ways, the winter of our discontent, with biting snow and freezing winds long outstaying their welcome into April. Spanish menswear bible Hercules Universal offers a rejuvenating missive from the sunlit Iberian peninsula with their latest issue, which comes with the promising title “Club Tropicana” stamped on its electric blue cover. Otto Pierce lounges on the pristine sands of Mexico’s Riviera Maya in Paola Kudacki’s saturated cover feature, wearing some of the season’s brightest pieces styled by Francesco Sourigues. Bruno Staub captures new face Carter in Kim Jones’ all-American, California-dreaming designs in a Louis Vuitton feature with fashion by Miguel Arnau. Dan Glaser visits a Provençal paradise in an architectural study of the minimalist G House in Bonnieux, a gleaming box of glass and concrete set in the woods of the French countryside. There is a hint of darkness amongst the light as well, in the edgy video accompanying the cover story, which finds Pierce splashing around in the dark surf in just a pair of Saint Laurent leather pants, in Daniel Riera’s Fall 2014 preview, which captures Jason Anthony in tough looks chosen by Sourigues from a season that seems far away but will be here all too soon. But, rather than diminishing the glow, these shadows serve only to add some sharpening contrast to an issue that, to finish off that line from Shakespeare, is otherwise “made glorious summer by this sun.”

Women on Top

March 13th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Who can resist the allure of a magazine dedicated to dynamic, intelligent and take charge women! David Vivirido and Francesco Sourigues, the forces behind Hercules Magazine unveil their vision for women with Vamp Magazine, a tour de force take on fashion dedicated to those who are unafraid to speak their minds and express themselves via the best in power-dressing. The cover tagline “Being the woman you’ve always wanted to be” offers a compelling call to action – it isn’t enough to just wear pretty clothes, a girl has got to take on the world with gusto. The founders offered a mission statement of sorts to Business of Fashion and described the glossy’s ideal reader in no uncertain terms, “Vamp is for women who want to get ahead, stamp their foot and make a statement.”

We love the sound of that and the look of the 6 incredible new covers, which feature an impressive lineup of modeling fixtures. Each cover star is an impressive woman with personality to spare, from industry standard bearers like Carolyn Murphy and Liya Kebede, multi-hyphenate Rosie Huntington Whiteley, campaign queen Karmen Pedaru and in demand it-girls Andreea Diaconu and Emily DiDonato.

First Look: Hercules ❤ New York

September 26th, 2013 |Posted by jonathan

The heavyweight Spanish menswear magazine Hercules Universal is no stranger to the long-distance haul, having devoted previous issues to far-flung locales like China and South Africa. The Fall 2013 issue finds itself a bit closer to home, focusing on the vibrant energy of the world’s capital, New York City. Several of the most talented photographers and stylists working today join forces in the eclectic stories, which showcase the beautiful Fall collections against the backdrop of the ever-changing city. Polish photographer Maciek Kobielski‘s stark black-and-white cover story features the Dane Mathias Lauridsen styled by Swede Zara Zachrisson and Darcy Backlar (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists), all of whom, like many in these pages—and countless immigrants before them— now call New York home. David Agbodji takes a star turn with an uptown elegance in Bruno Staub (De Facto)’s gorgeous feature styled by Miguel Arnau. Sean O’Pry brings his timeless cool to the city streets in Txema Yeste‘s contemplative story with styling by Francesco Sourigues.

The rest of the roster is equally strong, with newer faces like Dominik Bauer, Tidiou M’Baye, O’Shea Robertson and Louis Steyaert taking their places alongside seasoned pros like Clement Chabernaud, Marcel Castenmiller, Miles McMillan—and a few veterans like RJ Rogenski and Aiden Brady—in features lensed by Giampaolo Sgura, Carlotta Manaigo, Ben Weller, Axel Lindahl, and Zachary Hadley. The rich stories offer small peeks into the city’s bustling diversity, proof that even a lifelong New Yorker can always find something new and exciting just around the corner.
