All in the Details

August 11th, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

We called it a casting coup when Details assembled ten top models for the cover of their March 2014 issue, but they’ve outdone themselves for Fall, with a grand total of thirty-one outstanding faces appearing on the front of the new September issue out today. Longtime favorites like Brad Kroenig, Mark Vanderloo, Gabriel Aubry, Tyson Ballou, and Will Chalker are joined by newer faces, from Clark Bockelman and Daisuke Ueda to Arthur Gosse and Jackson Hale, photographed by Mark Seliger and all dressed in Calvin Klein’s different lines by Matthew Marden, with casting by Edward Kim. The accompanying feature within shows off the wide range of options for Fall, from slick suiting to sharp sportswear. Chalker proves his enduring appeal with a solo feature in sophisticated suits photographed by Greg Kadel and styled by Bill Mullen, while photographer Michael Schmelling and stylist Annie Psaltiras take on the season’s edgy knits in an athletic feature starring pro skaters Christian Hosoi and Haden McKenna. And Fall may be the season of colder temperatures and cloudy skies, but to prove it’s not all gloomy weather, Christopher Griffith and Marden celebrate the brighter side in an editorial starring Abiah Hostvedt and Kendall Harrison in vibrant outerwear. Take a look at our preview of the new issue below.

Details, Details

August 26th, 2014 |Posted by jonathanshia

If September is indeed, as they say, the January of fashion, then the new issue of Details Magazine might very well be one of the unofficial almanacs for the new year. The September edition of the menswear bible (with all model casting by Edward Kim) offers a polished look ahead at the new season, starting off with a brooding Idris Elba on the cover. The iconic RJ Rogenski shows off a plush selection of cold-weather options, while newcomers Jeremy Matos and Richard Detwiler take on the latest patterned suits on a big scale. Robbie Fimmano (London: Streeters London, Los Angeles: Streeters Los Angeles, New York: Streeters New York) captures a range of faces old and new in the season’s most desirable Eighties-inspired pieces, and a gorgeous, artistic collaboration between the photographer Lacey and the painter Alexa Meade showcases a clutch of swirling prints in an editorial that harkens back to everyone from Van Gogh to Banksy. Happy New Year!

First Look: Details’ Supermodels

February 4th, 2014 |Posted by jonathanshia

The big March issues are making their way onto newsstands this week, and now Details has entered the fray with a guaranteed winner. Those who complain about the dearth of models on magazine covers will surely be cheered by the sight of not one, not two, not even three, but ten of today’s biggest superstars shot by celebrity photographer Mark Seliger (New York: Management + Artists, Paris: Management + Artists). Casting director Edward Kim gathered Garrett Neff, Clement Chabernaud, Noah Mills, Tyson Ballou, RJ Rogenski, Andres Velencoso Segura, Mathias Lauridsen, Arthur Kulkov, Simon Nessman, and Sean O’Pry for an iconic group shot that expands across a triple fold out. Dressed by Benjamin Sturgill, the ten are shown in some of spring’s sharpest pieces, and the accompanying feature within finds them surrounded by the buzzing lights of a classic New York night. Vanity Fair can have Julia Roberts and George Clooney; we’ll take these guys any day. (Images exclusively for courtesy of Details, for video and more, go to

Back to the 80’s

December 10th, 2013 |Posted by victoria

It’s quite obvious where the vision behind this shoot for GQ China came from- after all, who doesn’t love a good 80’s movie? Though photographed on location in current day Brooklyn by Blair Getz Mezibov; models Cole Mohr, Edward Wilding, Matt Mcglone, Paolo AnchisiRyan Kennedy, and Anna Schilling are seemingly transported three decades back in their Risky Business/Pretty in Pink/Sixteen Candles inspired looks styled by Luke Day. Go back to the 80’s below and yes that IS a Delorean in the last shot.

Model Details

August 9th, 2013 |Posted by

The September issues keep on coming, and the latest to join the ever-swelling ranks is Details Magazinethe men’s magazine that is making a splash by featuring a pair of supermodels on its cover rather than the usual Hollywood actor. Tyson Ballou and Emily DiDonato put a gorgeous face on the annual Fashion Issue, which is packed with a wealth of options for the cooler months. Ballou’s and Didonato’s sharp basics help liven up a clean, uncluttered cover story by John Balsom, while Shaun De Wet shows off the season’s sleekest suits on the city streets, photographed from above by Robbie Fimmano. Meanwhile, former pro soccer player John Halls (also shot by Balsom) wraps up in some comfy dress coats, perfect for an autumn evening, and Eric Ramos and Nadav Heyman demonstrate the brighter side of Fall, with strong looks in bright hues shot against a surreal Escher-scape by Lacey. It may be hot now, but Details reminds us that the chill is just around the corner—and that there’s more than a few things worth looking forwards to. Text: Jonathan Shia

Love Actually

November 29th, 2011 |Posted by Betty

How many fashion editorials do we see where there is zero to minimal chemistry between the 2 main characters? Details Magazine‘s December issue features longtime couple Ryan Burns and Aline Nakashima, cast by Edward Kim, in an unsurprisingly intimate shoot by John Balsom, wearing the latest relaxed fashion by Tommy Hilfiger, Marc by Marc Jacobs, J Crew, Burberry and more. If only we saw more of such beautiful twosomes in all the fashion mags. Who are some of your other favorite model pairings?
