Supernormal

August 13th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott (Art Partner) ditch their superglossy style in favor of the naturalistic in this picturesque story from W Magazine‘s star studded September issue. The glamour is still there (it’s hard to shoot a cast this gorgeous without infusing some glamour into the images) but the focus is on the normal, unfussy charm of t-shirts, jeans and hoodies. Led by Kate Moss the beautiful cast poses understated pieces chosen by Edward Enninful, stripped of the gowns and finery the group looks at completely at ease – more like a gathering of good friends than a group of the world’s top models. Daria Werbowy, Mariacarla Boscono, Raquel Zimmermann, Saskia de Brauw, Lara Stone, Suvi Koponen, Meghan Collison, Anna Ewers, Mica Arganaraz, Daan van der Deen, Filip Hrivnak and Steve Milatos make for a gorgeous group – especially in the shots where they’re sporting skivvies and smiles.

Banal Plus

July 18th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The normcore trend has been the subject of much debate – is it chic, is it lazy, is it even a legitimate trend at all? Craig McDean and Edward Enninful take on the look in the pages of W Magazine with an editorial that mixes the best in designer gear with everyday staples like Adidas tube socks and white clogs – the kind of items you’re more likely to find in the closets of athletes than amongst the accessories utilized in a fashion story. With boy short bowl cuts by James Pecis (London: D + V Management , New York: D + V Management) and minimal makeup by Fulvia Farolfi (ArtList Paris) models Daiane ConteratoGrace MaharyAymeline ValadeManuela FreyKatlin AasAmanda Murphy and Fei Fei Sun look equal parts haute and banal.

Mulberry Hills

July 2nd, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Mulberry heads back to its rugged roots with a picturesque campaign set against a Scottish highland backdrop. Tim Walker eschews the fantastical in favor of the simple pleasures of green hills and blue skies and it makes for beautiful images. Cara Delevingne plays modern English rose in Walker’s shots, sporting knit sweaters and minis as she totes around the line’s signature bags. Walking alongside hunting hounds might not require the use of a Bayswater tote, but the added touch of luxury certainly doesn’t hurt and Edward Enninful‘s skillful styling makes each fall ensemble seem perfect.

First Lady

October 29th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

The most surprising thing about W Magazine‘s FLOTUS inspired fashion story starring Naomi Campbell is that it took so long to appear. MIchelle Obama has been global tastemaker for years so it seems only natural that one of the industry’s leading publications would find editorial inspiration in her signature style. Willy Vanderperre‘s photographs always have a quiet beauty and his style works well here, while Edward Enninful perfectly captures Mrs. Obama’s streamlined sophistication with his styling. Using a mix of demure pieces from Nina RicciGiorgio ArmaniPrada and Dior, Enninful creates a wardrobe fit for a first lady. As always Naomi is a pro in front of the camera and radiates poise in every shot.
