Fashion Meets Context in SSAW

October 30th, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

SSAW Magazine‘s latest A/W issue is giving us total alternative vibes, meaning the fashion without the superfluous nonessentials. It’s a lesson in nonchalance and gritty art-meets-fashion photography. The four covers are a swath of inside aesthetics and contributors like Drew Jarrett‘s dreamy capture of Guinevere Van Seenus or Marton Perlaki‘s artful compositions of Drake Burnette. Beneath the covers, the editorials are a subsurface selection of where fashion finds context, all distinct, but all intimate. See a preview of the issue below.

French Lesson

January 9th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

French chic is always in style, even in Vogue Australia where Will Davidson and Jillian Davison recreate the feel of the look right down to the berets, baguettes and Breton stripes. Drake Burnette is a refined presence in Davidson’s black and white images, posing in the midst of the Eiffel Tower and along the banks of the Seine looking Parisian even though she hails from Austin and has the Texas tattoo to prove it. All and all the editorial provides an elegant tribute to a theme that has inspired for years and will always hold a special place in the hearts of fashion devotees.

Sebastian Kim and Katie Mossman get abstract for Vogue Germany with a wild fashion story that looks to art for inspiration. From Jackson Pollock’s drip paintings to Willem de Kooning’s abstract figures, the editorial takes on abstract expressionism’s masters with a series of elegantly styled portraits starring Drake Burnette. The impressive set design by Kadu Lennox and the creative selection of painterly pieces from the season’s collections – including PradaChloe and Altuzarra – take this colorful story to that next level.
