Spanish Influence

December 23rd, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Dolce & Gabbana‘s seasonal campaigns always bring Sicilian culture to the forefront with Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana transporting us back to the old country with Mediterranean scenes fit for Fellini. For Spring the designers merge traditions with a campaign centered around Spain’s influence on Sicily. Domenico Dolce‘s images utilize familiar iconography – matadors, mantillas and the elegance of flamenco, to create photographs that are steeped in tradition, yet appealingly minimal. There is an abundance of print, pattern and glitz (this is a Dolce & Gabbana campaign after all) but the pared down backdrop of patinated walls and rustic architecture keeps our attentions on the decadent clothes and beautiful cast. House favorite Bianca Balti is joined by Vittoria Ceretti, Blanca Padilla, Irina Sharipova, Travis Cannata, Xavier Serrano and Misa Patinszki, but the real scene stealers are the dashing bullfighter, José Maria Manzanares and a trio of grinning grandmas who bring a touch of whimsy to every shot they appear in.

La Canzone del Mare

September 2nd, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The Dolce & Gabbana look is one of the most easily recognizable in fashion – the brand’s quintessentially Italian take on style is unmistakable. The dramatic nature of Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbanas clothing makes the duo’s wares perfect for editorial and Vogue Japan taps into the larger than life style of Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda with a seaside story as lively and colorful as anything you’ll see this month. Dalianah ArekionKinga Rajzak and Nadja Bender take to the shores of Capri wearing the couture collection as they perch on the edge of cliffs and pose on boats while looking like princesses – complete with gilded D&G crowns. Giovanna Battaglia and Anna Dello Russo take turns styling, creating a vivid portrait of Mediterranean glamour.

Preview of Hannah Holman by Norbert Schoerner for 10 Summer Issue 2010.

10’s always been our go to magazine for inventively beautiful imagery combined with a slightly madcap sense of humor that’s refreshing in a industry that so often takes itself way too seriously. We always look forward to their monthly Ten Heads feature but for their summer issue, celebrating their 10 year anniversary, they’ve outdone themselves with, what else, but 10 covers of their favorite Fashion Gods: Alber Elbaz, Azzedine Alaia, Donatella Versace, Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana, Helmut Lang, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford and Vivienne Westwood. Who’s your favorite of these 10 men and women with their larger than life personas? Check out the previews at 10 Women and 10 Men.
