Sugar & Spice

December 15th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Who says high fashion has to be complicated or subversive? Steven Meisel takes Kati Nescher and Daria Strokous back to the malt shop in a frothy and frilly ad for Louis Vuitton‘s spring collection. In keeping with the retro theme of the collection, Daria and Kati play around on a shiny pink set that looks culled from Happy Days. As always the accessories are front and center, with pastel Speedys and transparent Lock-its providing another dose of eye candy in a campaign that is practically cavity inducing.

Always A Lady

July 18th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Vogue Russia has never shied away from all out glamour: the often ostentatious looks that grace their pages offer a taste of maximalism, but August’s cover story with Daria Strokous takes a subtler approach. The luxurious details are all there in Mariano Vivanco‘s images: gold jewelry, oversized hats, ornate furs yet Ekaterina Mukhina‘s styling looks effortless. Andrey Zakharov joins Daria for a little one on one and they make for an ultra-cool couple.

Minimalist Mood

January 27th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Some of Spring’s most compelling campaigns take a less is more approach, with a focus on the combination of great models and impeccably constructed clothes. When you’ve got Jana Knauerova, Melissa Tammerijn, Julia Nobis or Erin Wasson striking regal poses in deceptively simple dresses, you really don’t need much more. The Jil Sander ads takes the trend one step further, all but erasing Daria Strokous‘ beautiful face in some of the spring shots. Willy Vanderperre is certainly on a roll this season!

Sugar & Spice

July 30th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Has Steven Meisel gone soft on us? The master photographer is showing his sugary side with in the new campaigns for Juicy Couture and Mulberry. The overdose of bright colors, youthful energy and over the top girlishness may have some missing Meisel’s darker moments, but the carefree shots of Hanne, Abbey, Eliza and Daria are perfectly atuned to the lighthearted feel of both brands.

Cover Up

July 20th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Steven Meisel serves up an elegant story with an impressive cast for Vogue; Christina Kruse, Sasha Pivovarova, Caroline Trentini, Daria Strokous and Mirte Maas, star in Meisel’s woodland fantasy and look impeccable in fall’s ornate and luxurious coats. The girls aren’t the only stars of the show though,  Marie-Amelie Sauve‘s skillful styling, makes the eclectic pieces look even better than they did on the runway.
