Fashion’s current queen of austerity is transformed into a tattooed femme fatale by the talented Shay Ashual and Lisa Butler. The film noir styling by George Cortina, coupled with a wild array of body art creates a unique new look for Ms. Strokous, while Sundsbø’s dramatic photography style provides a showcase for her posing talents. The stylized shoot offers a welcome change of pace from the usual vintage inspired edit, all while adding a hard edge to one of fashion’s most delicate beauties.
We’ve all seen enough fashion films featuring slow motion models whose hair blows elegantly in the wind and though there is nothing wrong with that per se, the most engaging campaign movies we’re seeing this year break from the tried and true formulas. Going for over the top humour, cinematic imagery or full on designer commentary, these brand new campaigns excite and delight.

We last saw Anjelah Johnson’s Bon Qui Qui character on old episodes of Mad TV, but she’s back and has upgraded from her old job at King Burger. Starring as a sales associate at Wang’s trendy Soho boutique, Bon Qui Qui manages to insult everyone from Alessandra Ambrosio to A$AP Rocky with her in your face brand of customer service. For anyone who has ever worked retail, or had an especially crazy shopping experience this clip will make you crack a smile.
CALVIN KLEIN PRESENTS PROVOCATIONS
Calvin Klein has a long history of memorable advertisements that push boundaries with a strong dose of sex appeal and their latest fashion film, Provocations adds to their oeuvre with a slick Fabien Baron helmed vision of minimalist eroticism. Starring actor, Alexander Skarsgard and Suvi Koponen, the avant garde ad provides some truly remarkable imagery.
We’re used to seeing Daria Strokous looking beyond elegant in ads for Jil Sander and Dior, but it is always interesting to see a photographer take the refined beauty in another direction. Hugh Lippe uncovers the edge beneath Ms. Strokous’ refined exterior in a new story for FAT Magazine that showcases another side of the Russian beauty. Focusing on a look that is raw and edgy with a hint of danger, Lippe along with stylist Joanne Blades create a compelling alternative to the typical fashion edit – check out the story, exclusive outtakes and the accompanying fashion film below.
Fashion’s grandmaster takes on couture in a beautiful way with some of his favorite girls Aymeline Valade, Daria Strokous, Karlie Kloss and Saskia de Brauw all feature on collectible covers. Lindsey Wixson joins them for a sleek editorial filled with neon lights and featuring the very best pieces from Gaultier, Dior, Alteier Versace and of course, Chanel.
Were there an actual Italian Vogue channel we would watch it 24/7 as it would most certainly trump some of the lackluster “fashion” television on the air right now. The Conde Nast entertainment division has yet to provide us with such an incredible gift, but if the January Vogue Italia coverstory is anything to go by there is certainly potential for hilarity and hijinks. Sending up the popular Home Shopping networks with a Steven Meiselstory featuring top models is a brilliant idea and one that translates beautifully. While we doubt that you’re ever going to be able to buy that Chanel gown off the back of Daria Strokous QVC, it is amazing to see the land of snuggies and SlapChops invaded by high fashion. With stellar hair byJimmy Paul and gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana makeup by Pat McGrath all this story needed as a cameo by Joan Rivers to push it over the top and into the realm of iconic editorials.
Who says high fashion has to be complicated or subversive? Steven Meisel takesKati Nescher and Daria Strokous back to the malt shop in a frothy and frilly ad for Louis Vuitton‘s spring collection. In keeping with the retro theme of the collection, Daria and Kati play around on a shiny pink set that looks culled from Happy Days. As always the accessories are front and center, with pastel Speedys and transparent Lock-its providing another dose of eye candy in a campaign that is practically cavity inducing.
