Beyond Normal

August 5th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

Fashion is all about pushing boundaries and given the cutting-edge ethos of last season’s collections, magazines are pulling out all the stops for issues that celebrate nonconformity. Dansk‘s unorthodox fall issue is all about the allure of the unusual and is filled with attention grabbing content with a fashionable focus. Nadja Bender shines in Chanel couture on the cover which brings to life Lagerfeld’s wild, Brave new World collection to life. Inside an array of striking content entices the eye – experience a first look at the cover and the issue’s three teasers below.

Cover to Cover

CHECKER CHIC

We’ve been seeing a lot of Marc Jacobs’ mod influenced collection for Louis Vuitton, so it is no surprised to see it showing up on the covers of two stylish publications this month. Numero‘s sleek image by Sebastian Kim gives you two sides of of Nadja Bender, while Vogue Japan offers a girlish take on Jacobs’ designs with a coquettish image of Lindsey Wixson by Patrick Demarchelier. Both pictures present a compelling fashion moment, so it really boils down to whether you prefer your Vuitton girl seductive, or syrupy sweet.

NADJA ON NUMERO OR LINDSEY ON VOGUE JAPAN – WHICH VERSION OF VUITTON DO YOU PREFER?

TEASER PLEASER

Dansk returns with two images designed to whet readers’ appetites for more of the famed Danish magazine’s blend of art and fashion. Nadja Bender shows up again (there isn’t a magazine you won’t find Nadja in these days) looking effortlessly cool in Hasse Nielsen‘s black and white shot, but the image that grabs our attention is that of the aptly named Adonis Bosso taken by Raf Stahelin. Dressed in a debonair fedora and head to metallics, Bosso cuts an impressive figure – we can’t wait to see the accompanying editorial.

NADJA OR ADONIS – WHICH DANSK TEASER CATCHES YOUR EYE?

BRAZILIAN BONUS!

Giampaolo Sgura and Anna Dello Russo are at it again! This time the duo creates four wildly different covers for Vogue Brasil featuring Magdalena FrackowiakIzabel GoulartBette Franke and Mirte Maas. Each cover captures a completely different mood within the sexy & chic theme: from the all out glamour of Magda’s shot, Mirte’s full on Dello Russo eclecticism, Izabel’s vibrant  cover image and the purity of Bette’s Prada collection image. Each cover has its merits, but we can’t help but think that Bette’s austere Miuccia madness feels freshest.

BETTE? IZABEL? MAGDALENA? MIRTE? WHICH VOGUE BRAZIL COVER GETS YOUR VOTE?

Let’s DANSK

August 2nd, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Dansk never fails to excite us with new content and for fall the mag is already on the right track with an incredible image of Magdalena gracing the first of their covers.  Naturally, their second looks just as good: Sigrid Agren features in a gritty yet gorgeous shot by Aitken Jolly, that captures the spirt of the “something wicked this way comes” headline. Jolly’s black and white image is definitely showcasing the devious side of the typically sweet Miss Agren.

Inside you’ll find favorites like Clement Chabernaud, Julia Saner, Barbara Palvin, Patricia van der Vliet, Dree Hemingway, Josephine Skriver and James Smith along with interviews with fashion heavyweights like Gucci’s Frida Gianini, Dries Van Noten and Acne’s Jonny Johansson.

Let’s DANSK

January 27th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Thomas Penfound astounds on the cover of DANSK‘s latest issue. Drawing inspiration from androgynous icon Annie Lennox’s hit Missionary Man, Aitken Jolly and Anders Solvsten Thomsen transform Thomas into a flame haired beauty. This is the 25th issue of DANSK and the overarching theme is ‘towards uncharted territory’ an idea echoed throughout the content. Inside you’ll also find a few surprising images of Baptiste Giabiconi by Bojana Tatarska and styled by Morgan Hamada Ruiz, as well as this thought provoking quote.

“One day I went up to Karl and said: ‘Why me? What is it you see in me? Why do you only work with me?’ And he told me it’s because he sees something in me that he doesn’t see in other people, something in the way I carry myself. Karl said: ‘I see both a man and a woman in you at the same time.'” - Baptiste Giabiconi
