All in the Details

August 11th, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

We called it a casting coup when Details assembled ten top models for the cover of their March 2014 issue, but they’ve outdone themselves for Fall, with a grand total of thirty-one outstanding faces appearing on the front of the new September issue out today. Longtime favorites like Brad Kroenig, Mark Vanderloo, Gabriel Aubry, Tyson Ballou, and Will Chalker are joined by newer faces, from Clark Bockelman and Daisuke Ueda to Arthur Gosse and Jackson Hale, photographed by Mark Seliger and all dressed in Calvin Klein’s different lines by Matthew Marden, with casting by Edward Kim. The accompanying feature within shows off the wide range of options for Fall, from slick suiting to sharp sportswear. Chalker proves his enduring appeal with a solo feature in sophisticated suits photographed by Greg Kadel and styled by Bill Mullen, while photographer Michael Schmelling and stylist Annie Psaltiras take on the season’s edgy knits in an athletic feature starring pro skaters Christian Hosoi and Haden McKenna. And Fall may be the season of colder temperatures and cloudy skies, but to prove it’s not all gloomy weather, Christopher Griffith and Marden celebrate the brighter side in an editorial starring Abiah Hostvedt and Kendall Harrison in vibrant outerwear. Take a look at our preview of the new issue below.

Muito Marlon

May 6th, 2015 |Posted by jonathanshia

Made in Brazil devotes their latest issue to one of male modeling’s most iconic Brazilians, Marlon Teixeira, whose curly locks, tanned skin, and toned abs have made him a constant presence in campaigns and magazines throughout his many years in the industry. The incomparable Bruce Weber opens the issue with a hand-drawn sketch of Teixeira and a tender introduction comparing him to “some unexplainable aquatic mystery.”

In the rest of the issue, Milan Vukmirovic shoots Teixeira in a collection of vintage sports cars dressed by George Cortina in little more than a fur throw, while Cristiano Madureira finds him at home with his surfboard on Santa Catarina. Fellow Brazilian superstar Caroline Trentini joins Teixeira for a classically clean feature by Gui Paganini styled by Renata Correa, while Rodrigo Calazans, Diego Miguel, and Leo Bruno all also star in their own editorials. After the success of the previous International Issue, all-American Calvin Klein favorite Clark Bockelman holes up in a rustic beach shack in a story by Matthew Scrivens styled by Benjamin Sturgill, bringing together an issue that offers the best of Brazil to the world and vice versa. Take a look at our exclusive preview of the new issue, out Friday, below.

The Calvin Universe

July 15th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

The labels may be different, but there is a spirt that unites the many lines of the Calvin Klein empire. During campaign season the mega-brand always manages to create a stir and for fall they unveil five new campaigns, distinctive yet unmistakably Calvin. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott (Art Partner) shoot Calvin Klein Jeans & Underwear enlisting Lara Stone and Matthew Terry to provide the prerequisite sex appeal. The #mycalvins hashtag is emblazoned across Mert & Marcus’ beautiful black and white portraits of the duo and is sure to resonate with the social media obsessed.

For Calvin Klein Collection and Platinum advertising David Sims shoots serene images of CK favorites Vanessa Axente and Clark Bockelman sporting the memorable F/W collections with stylish flair. The collection ads with their striking mountainside backdrop provide an especially beautiful showcase for Sims’ minimal style.

Last but certainly not least, familiar faces Edita Vilkeviciute and Tyson Ballou make a perfect couple in the pared down ads for White Label. Sporting coordinating tweeds and knits and looking cooler than thou in Daniel Jackson‘s shots the duo are ideal Calvin representatives conveying exactly the right amount of urban chic.

Modern Day Heroes

May 23rd, 2014 |Posted by jonathanshia

Sometimes, less is more. Such is the case with DSECTION Magazine, the Portuguese menswear magazine that, next week, moves from a bimonthly to a biannual format with their supersized Spring/Summer issue. Two covers shot by Danielle Levitt spotlight some of the brightest new faces of today: Simon James, Joseph Dolce, and Gabriel Marques, dressed by the multitalented Nicola Formichetti in his first collection for Diesel.

Following on the theme of “Modern-Day Heroes,” the issue explores different strains of strength and bravery, from the fresh, vibrant energy of the cover story to the contained power of Frederico Martins’ calm editorial, with sleek, easy clothes selected by Nelly de Melo Gonçalves. Clark Bockelman, Alex Dunstan, and Matt Trethe stare down the camera in James White’s feature, with styling by Christopher Preston, while Nicolas Ripoll and Matthew Holt offer an elegant preview of Fall 2014, again from the team of Martins and de Melo Goncalves. Paolo Zerbini offers up a study of youthful aggression with Paolo Zagoreo’s edgy streetwear, while Thomas Goldblum presents a more refined take with his classic portraits with styling by Benoit Martinengo. The only downside is knowing we’ll have to wait six months to see the next issue.
