Daniel Jackson celebrates the looks of the season in British Vogues collections special. Shooting the signature pieces from the spring/summer collections as selected by Francesca Burns. Every piece you’d expect to see is there, from the salmon tinted Calvin Klein spaghetti strap shift, to McQueen’s extravagantly detailed chiffon numbers. Added bonus – each ensemble is paired with a girl who elevates the look, from Maria Bradley’s innate edge adding an ounce of cool to Armani’s classic suit, to Elise Crombez showing you exactly how YSL ought to be worn.

Liza Golden – Image Credit Chanel.com

One of the highlights of yesterday’s lush Chanel‘s pre-fall show was the diverse cast. Amidst familiar Lagerfeld favorites like Arizona Muse and Stella Tennant a host of Indian & Pakistani beauties glided down the runway and caught our attention. Girls like Lakshmi Menon are already bonafide fashion stars, but the show brought a host of newer faces to the Grand Palais. Willowy beauties Jyothsna Chakravarthy, Smita Lasrado, Kelly Gale looked elegant in Chanel’s gold and cream palette. Fresh from the brand’s beauty campaign, Alyssah Ali traisped down the Chanel catwalk. Buzzed about beauty Shanina Shaik proved her versatility by pulling a complete 180 from her sultry Victoria’s Secret look. With her strong brows and refined look Liza Golden radiated classic beauty. Months after Vogue India labeled her the next supermodel Ashika Pratt hit high fashion’s big leagues.

When it comes to presenting a cast that represents the melting pot we all live in, fashion still has a long way to go. It is only in the past few years that brands truly began to embrace Asian models, but as beautiful as the women of South Asia are they are still a rarity on the runway. The theme of Chanel’s pre-fall collection dealt heavily with Indian influences and the casting attempted to reflect that, but out of 70 plus looks only a handful were worn by ethnic models. It remains to be seen if these young ladies will build on this momentum and dominate the catwalks next season, but we’re hoping this is the beginning of a moment.

Well on his way to becoming a household name, Baptiste Giabiconi has given us many outrageously, over the top moments in the past three years. Here are 10 shining Giabiconi highlights, in high fashion (and not), throughout the years.

Handsome Girl

July 25th, 2011 |Posted by Janelle

Has Freja Beha Erichsen graduated from star model to full fledged fashion icon? Vogue China seems to think so, enlisting Tao Okamoto to recreate Freja’s signature tomboy-chic look in Lachlan Bailey‘s beauty story. Styled by Clare Richardson and featuring leather and denim duds from Chanel and Calvin Klein, the story does a good job recreating Freja’s quintessential model off duty style. Always fun to see one model pay tribute to another, perhaps next month we can have the tables turned with Freja sporting Tao’s memorable bowl cut.

Girls on Film

July 20th, 2011 |Posted by contributor

3.1 Phillip Lim “Girls On Bikes” Women’s FW11 Collection from 3.1PhillipLim on Vimeo.

What could be better than leisurely biking through the picturesque New York City streets? Biking while dressed head-to-toe in pieces from 3.1 Phillip Lim‘s F/W 2011 collection. San Francisco-based photographer and filmmaker Andrew Paynter collaborates once again with the designer on a lookbook video that supremely embodies the spirit of the Phillip Lim woman: brave, independent, and impeccably dressed. Models Karlijn, Xiao Wen Ju, and Kasia Wrobel, casting by Daniel Peddle Casting, pedal through the city with glamour and ease to showcase the wearability of the entire collection. Bicycles may very well be the must-have accessory for fall! Click here to view the film.

Kristina Salinovic transforms for the aptly titled Evanescent Metamorphoses, the newest film from Karl Lagerfeld showcasing the Chanel Fall-Winter 2011/12 Pre-collection. In this latest installment, the gender lines are blurred as Salinovic moves from her signature androgynous state toward a more feminine version of herself, all the while draped in Lagerfeld’s sumptuous creations. The dream-like quality of the film is the perfect setting for a wardrobe composed entirely of Chanel. Click here to view the film. (reviews by Lynley Flanagan)
