Costume Drama

May 8th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Every ensemble sent down the runway tells a story and Arlenis Sosa does her part to bring these stories to life. The Dominican beauty plays a host of characters for Michelangelo di Battista in the latest Vogue Italia. From Casanova to lonesome cowboy Arlenis embodies each look with help from Alice Gentiluccis clever styling. Which of dramatis personae do you prefer? We’re partial to the cigarette smoking lady lothario.

Spring Forward!

April 15th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Arlenis Sosa is front and center on the cover of Vogue Germany. The elegant Dominican beauty poses in rose colored Lanvin for Alexi Lubomirski on the cover of the May issue. In addition to the inherent prettiness of the spring themed cover, this issue represents the first time a woman of color has been on the cover of Vogue Germany since Naomi Campbell graced the pages way back in 2004.

As fashion moves to embrace diversity Vogue unveils its chosen few. Highlighting the variety of beauty via the hottest modeling stars Patrick Demarchelier captures the allure of the individual. Official Vogue it-girl Caroline Trentini cements her status as the face of new post-millennial luxury, while Sasha Pivovarova proves that she can do elegant as well as avant-garde. Oluchi Onweagba takes center stage as regal doyenne and Coco Rocha shows off the retro charm that makes her the perfect representative for Vogue’s ongoing love affair with nostalgia. Newcomer Arlenis Sosa displays the refinement that has made her a sensation and last but certainly not least cerebral beauty Lakshmi Menon, makes her American Vogue debut looking as impeccable as ever.

While each girl is special in her own right the combined power of these beauties represents a collective shift in the Vogue aesthetic towards something more inclusive and representative. As a group these models are accomplished and intelligent with strong personalities and diverse backgrounds.Together they reflect the modern spirit of beauty as a multicultural, distinctive and inspirational force.

Lancome signs Arlenis

September 5th, 2008 |Posted by Betty

From WWD: “Lancome has added an up-and-comer to its stable of spokesmodels: Arlenis Sosa, a 19-year-old former student discovered in her home country of the Dominican Republic this past April.

“Arlenis possesses beauty, intelligence, charm and compassion,” said Odile Roujol, president of Lancôme. “All of our brand ambassadors share these attributes, so we knew she would be a wonderful addition. We are very proud to welcome her to the Lancôme family.”

Sosa was discovered on her way to a college class by a designer, who sent a shot of her to Marilyn Agency’s Peter Cedeño. She arrived in the U.S. this spring, and signed with the Marilyn Agency.
