Shock Wave

September 25th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

If you saw the Tori Praver cover of Vogue Russia coming then you can count yourself officially ahead of the curve. The curvaceous Hawaii beach babe’s slot on the cover of a magazine usually reserved for the most editorial Eastern European faces was another of the month’s stunning surprises. Do you love it? Are you waiting for the Freaky Friday moment when Anna Selezneva appears in Sports Illustrated? Let us know how you feel!

Campaign Contributions

July 15th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

The F/W campaigns continue to emerge and with each new ad there is something different to take in. Myf Shepherd and Olga Sherer don fedoras for Sonia Rykiel’s girlish campaign while Anja Rubik reprises her role as face of Giuseppe Zanotti in the Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin helmed campaign. The Eastern bloc power trio of Sasha Pivovarova, Anna Selezneva and Natasha Poly take on Phi this season in a series of  Steven Meisel images that looks very supermodel. Last but certainly not least, Jessica Stam’s feline beauty shines for Fendi. Karl Lagerfelds smoky shots of Stam looking elegant are an unexpected treat.

Which campaigns have stood out for you this season?

The MVP

June 12th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Compared to some of her peers Anna Selezneva, has been modeling a relatively short period of time but already she has accomplished more than most models do their entire careers. With impressive campaigns, a consistently stellar series of runway bookings and covers of nearly every major Vogue Anna is at the very top of the heap. This month she graces Vogue China looking softer and sweeter than we’re used to seeing her. The corresponding editorial by Camilla Akrans keeps with the softness and light theme shooting Anna looking natural against a beach backdrop.

Bits and Bytes: Anna S for i-D

April 14th, 2009 |Posted by Betty @ MODELS.com

Vogue Italia cover girl Eliza Cummins interviewed by Pony Ryder.

“The geriatric Brokeback Mountain”. Best quote from Matthew Tyrnauer and Andre Leon Talley about the Valentino documentary. Read excerpts here from NY Mag.

“With men, trying to look alluring is problematic.” The eerie and fascinating designer Rick Owens is photographed by Nick Knight for Arena Homme +. See the live video and interview from the shoot.

Hear Anna Jagodzinska, Isabeli Fontana, Raquel ZimmermannCaroline Trentini. speak to Style.com about their cover shoot.. Yes we are in love with Raquel’s voice.

Are you into design? Our friends at ENC need a design intern (NYC only please) to help put together design concepts, make them actual graphics, as well their own design input and research. email Chuck@enctees.com.

Love this i-D story with Anna Selezneva for their “resourceful” issue. Photographed by Richard Bush and styled by Sarah Richardson, the story includes real Japanese obis and kimonos incorporated into the designer pieces. Certainly the right way to “tighten the belt” during these recessionary times.

Thriller!

March 10th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

America’s obsession with celebrity has lead us down many peculiar paths - maps to stars homes, Liberace museums, every issue of US Weekly ever - the list goes on and on. No manifestation of this fixation is more unusual than the proud tradition of wax figurines. Admit it - it’s a little creepy to pose next to a life sized replica of your favorite star. The thrill is cheesy and fleeting but how many of us have payed a visit to Madame Tussauds?

Terry Richardson gets the highly tacky, insanely addictive pleasure of such campy mainstays and with Anna Selezneva by his side he brings the joy to life for V. The likenesses of Michael Jackson, Johnny Depp and Madonna all make special appearances as Anna poses with a look of absolute glee.

Risque Business

January 29th, 2009 |Posted by Betty @ MODELS.com

In the 80’s there was Brooke Shields who famously declared that nothing came between me and my Calvins. In the 90’s the infamous photo shoot in the basement took place that had conservative Christians crying child pornography. Sandwiched in between were iconic underwear images of Tom Hintnaus, Marky Mark and an English new face named Kate Moss. If there is one thing that Calvin Klein can do is create a buzz that millions of advertising dollars cannot buy. The current commercial for CK Jeans shot by Steven Meisel is already banned in the US (joining last year’s Calvin’s Eva Mendes fronted Obsession fragrance). This is the first CK Jeans commercial since Brooke’s and it doesn’t disappoint. WWD has the uncensored preview here and steamy it most certainly is. The models spotted rolling around and appearing in the provocative print ads are some of the industry’s hottest stars and freshest new faces including Anna Jagodzinska, Anna Selezneva, Natasha Poly, Edita Vilkeviciute, Danny Schwarz, Vladimir Ivanov, Carson Parker and new face Mikus Lasmanis.

Bits and Bytes: Anna S for Calvin Klein S/S 09

January 13th, 2009 |Posted by Betty @ MODELS.com

Continuing a great year, Scott “The Sartorialist” Schuman does a book.

Tatiana the Anonymous Model reflects on what male models go through.

Jezebel: “Men’s Vogue stays alive…in a Lord Voldemort sort of way. The Spring Issue will be “reverse-bound” to the back of women’s Vogue.” What a great line. More on Men’s Vogue, WWD.

Mauricio and Roger Padilha talk Sprouse with Style.com

Steven Klein, “International Man of Mystery” with Madonna?

Though MDC normally doesn’t traffic in gossip about the models’ romantic lives, Gisele’s engagement to Tom Brady takes one of the most memorable supermodels out of the playing field of love. Congrats Gisele!

Wilhelmina Models goes public!

How glamourous is it that Alexander Wang’s mentor is Diane Von Furstenberg?

American Vogue; is there really change coming for once? New Meisel edit examined.

Rick Owens models his own clothes for Arena Homme +, photographed by Mr Nick Knight.

Ladies and gentlemen, the always anticipated Calvin Klein campaign with Ms Anna Selezneva for Spring Summer 09.
