Bowie and the Beauties

February 28th, 2013 |Posted by contributor

Leave it to David Bowie to return to pop culture with a project that blazes across music, fashion, and film. Directed by filmmaker Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways, 2010), Bowie’s fashion-film-meets-music-video for “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” is a surreal visual feast. Accompanying the latest track off the glam rock icon’s imminent 24th studio album, the film is equal parts Fellini imitation and David Lynch devotion, twisting a wild narrative around tabloids, domesticity, and androgyny. Tilda Swinton lends her acting chops playing Bowie’s wife as Saskia de Brauw and Andrej Pejic‘s deviant celebrity couple invades their lives. Iselin Steiro, rounding out the film’s trio of top models, gets the glammest gig of all playing a young Bowie–the two even lip the words together! What do you make of the video for “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)?” (text by Matt Meyer)

July 24th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

Though he’s known for putting together some of the most flawless casts imaginable — see Viktor & Rolf‘s stunning lineup of top tier beauties, and the eclectic group of worldly gents he selected for Berluti – casting director Andrew Weir still finds time to capture the biz’s most beautiful faces in his candid blog, Weir Diary. Getting to the heart of his subjects with honest snapshots that capture them looking unguarded and beautiful, Weir has created an intimate look at fashion from an insider perspective.

Powerful Soul

November 16th, 2011 |Posted by models.com

The ever so fascinating Lea T shines with a bevy of male models in the latest issue of Candy Magazine by Andreas Larsson. The Givenchy muse sports a both masculine and feminine looks and even tangos with fellow androgynous model Andrej Pejic in Yves Saint Laurent. Riccardo Tisci gushes about her saying that she is a “unique, rare, natural beauty, a combination of purity, hardness, romanticism, and agressiveness: all components of androgyny that are bound to both sexes,” and we couldn’t agree more!

Candy Darling

November 7th, 2011 |Posted by Betty

The always daring Candy Magazine‘s new issue has Chloe Sevigny posing as Terry Richardson and Mariano Vivanco shooting a gaggle of very masculine male faces in full bunny regalia and some pretty serious makeup by the always amazing Alex Box. The focus on the male body is stronger than ever and the fascination with Andrej Pejic shows that new boundaries for male beauty are constantly being reset. Candy’s celebration of transvestism, transsexuality, cross dressing and androgyny seems more relevant than ever. (For more Candy, go to their website).
