Self-Centered

June 24th, 2015 |Posted by Irene Ojo-Felix

Interview Magazine explores the vanity of the self with their latest editorial. Saskia de Brauw has all eyes on her as she’s captured by Mikael Jansson using selfie sticks to take in every bit of looks from Balenciaga, Dior, Alexander Wang, and Maison Martin Margiela. Setting the avant-garde wares, styled by Karl Templer, amongst the deadwood forest scenery, the imagery shows the meeting of the technically created and the natural landscape. In outfits like these, we can’t blame de Brauw of being a little narcissistic.

Industrie Darlings

June 2nd, 2015 |Posted by Irene Ojo-Felix

Power is the focus for the latest issue of Industrie Magazine. The bi-annual publication is dedicated to the hard working, creative and business veterans that run the fashion industry and gives a peek into their environments, whether they be conventional offices or atypical settings. For their eighth issue, cover star Edward Enninful poses along side friend and muse Naomi Campbell for photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and gives an exquisite retrospective on his 25-year long career of producing beautiful imagery for books like i-D Magazine, Vogue Italia, and W Magazine. The inside interview includes never-before-seen printed Polaroids from a time long before social media and quotes from colleagues and friends in the business.

Also inside the issue, top model favorite Anna Ewers is interviewed by her number one champion, Alexander Wang, where she talks about her burgeoning career and her first jobs as a teen studying abroad in Colombia. Shot by Erik Torstensson, the pouty, German beauty is visually stripped down for an introspective look at what makes her alluring to the masses. Take a look at our exclusive preview of the issue, available now on newsstands in the UK and June 29th in the US.

The Runaways

February 9th, 2015 |Posted by Janelle

Sebastian Kim and (Management + Artists) Gro Curtis take to the streets with a gritty story for HEROINE Magazine that sees Emmy Rappe and Lina Berg as a pair of teenage vagabonds clad in Balenciaga and Maison Martin Margiela. The pair walks through deserted woods and along the edge of suburban towns all while wearing a pared down selection of pieces from luxurious labels. Most kids don’t skip town in Alexander Wang and Opening Ceremony, but Curtis’ skillful styling and Kim’s naturalistic images make the concept feel authentic.

Alexander Wang’s Wild Ride

January 21st, 2015 |Posted by Janelle

The latest campaign for Alexander Wang is bright, colorful and filled with covetable clothes, but it works mainly because the images ring true. Is there any designer more likely to charter a party bus and rave across New York with a bevy of models?
Steven Klein (Art Partner) vibrant ads take the sneaker-centric spring collection and reimagine it as a rollicking good time complete with neon colors and glimpses of the Manhattan skyline peeking out from the bus’ open roof. Pascal Dangin‘s skillful art direction keeps the campaign’s LED imagery and flashing lights from ever seeming chaotic, while Karl Templer‘s styling keeps the focus firmly on those killer clothes. Models Sarah BrannonAnna EwersBinx WaltonDylan XueLexi Boling and Vanessa Moody are all along for the party, making each photo seem like an expression of youthful jubilance.

Break the Internet

December 5th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Leave it to Alexander Wang and Steven Klein (Art Partner) to take us back to the days when a denim ad could cause an international incident. If fashion advertising has seemed tame in recent years, the sight of a stripped down Anna Ewers sporting nothing more than a pair of inky blue Wang jeans pooled around her ankles is sure to set things right. With a provocative perspective and fearless take on female sensuality, Klein creates instantly an instant classic of in your face advertising that is sure to be hotly debated.

Wang Takes No Prisoners!

July 29th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Alexander Wang knows how to hold your attention and the designer always manages to surprise with his provocative campaigns. For fall Wang has got things on lockdown – literally. Citing the idea of “survival mode” as an inspiration Wang and Steven Klein (Art Partner) serve up women’s prison imagery with a fashion twist. Anna EwersVanessa MoodyLexi BolingKatlin Aas and Kat Hessen sport the utilitarian fall collection as they’re plunged into a world of strict rules, strip searches and  confinement. With Karl Templer styling you’re not going to see any orange jumpsuits and the girls look exceptional even as they impatiently await sentencing. All in all the ads mesh perfectly with the label’s spirit of youthful rebellion and provide the season’s most in-your-face campaign moment via that extreme on the floor shot.

Industrie Icons

July 16th, 2014 |Posted by Janelle

Industrie Magazine is known for its in depth look at fashion’s most interesting personalities and the magazine’s latest issue lives up to that legacy with a compelling look at Vogue’s Tonne Goodman. As one of the most prolific stylists around, Goodman has helped to craft Vogue’s identity for several decades and more than 100 covers. Goodman rarely grants interviews so the recounting of her career, from her beginnings as a model to her tenure as fashion director is a wonderful treat for readers. Fashion historians will find themselves enthralled by the interview, while lovers of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin’s photography are sure to find themselves drawn in by their photos of Goodman in her signature black turtleneck and sleek blonde hair.

Editorially the issue is filled with fresh content from the very best contributors, Lara Stone features in stark shots by Erik Torstensson, accompanied by a lengthy interview that details her ascent to supermodel status. Joan Smalls pumps iron in an adrenaline filled story by Lachlan Bailey (Management + Artists), Freja Beha Erichsen models Alexander Wang’s latest and Jamie Bochert guides readers through a day in her life comic book style.
