The World of Calvin Klein

July 15th, 2011 |Posted by Betty

The effortlessly chic brand released the rest of its fall campaign images, in an exclusive preview here, following the anticipated appearances of Lara Stone and Dmitriy Tanner by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for Calvin Klein Collection. The strikingly graphic ck Calvin Klein is an early hit with fashion fans, starring Lara, Liu Wen and the up and coming Benjamin Eidem captured by Craig McDean. The Calvin Klein line has Alasdair McLellan manning the helm of the classic collection with British beauties Lily Donaldson and Danny Beauchamp. After the wildly successful ck one Jeans launch this past spring, fall has Steven Meisel once again directing the dynamic cast of Lara, Rob Evans, Wang Xiao, Yuri Pleskun and a host of energetic newcomers. Last but never least, is the ever sensual Lara in the new Naked Glamour Underwear video by Patrick Demarchelier. Tell us your favorites in the comments.

Seasonal Reboots

December 21st, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Two of fashion’s biggest brands refresh their images with crisp new ad campaigns that offer up fresh takes on their aesthetics. Steven Meisel shoots Gisele Bundchen for Balenciaga and strips the supermodel of her patented sex appeal for a sporty and boyish campaign that captures the pared down look of the collection itself. Yuri Pleskun joins La Bundchen on the romp, sporting layers of face paint by Pat McGrath

Beige is the signature color of Hannah MacGibbon’s Chloe, so it makes sense that David Sims‘ campaign is almost entirely ecru. Malgosia Bela and Iselin Steiro look casually chic in the line’s classic silhouettes and clean lines.

K.I.S.S.

August 26th, 2010 |Posted by Betty

While there’s much hype about the September issues for behemoths like American Vogue, there’s also a wave of indie magazines rolling off the presses proving that print is most certainly not dead. Check out Luke Worrall on Supplementaire,Vanessa Traina/Hanne Gaby Odiele for Intermission and Yuri Pleskun for The Vision. The striking simplicity of these are a refreshing contrast to the covers most prevalent now on the stands. We love ’em all!

Men In Black

July 8th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

With two simple and effective shots Robbie Fimmano and Karl Templer sum up both sides of Dolce & Gabbana’s iconic mens collections; on one hand you have the old world Italian influences and on the other the debonair and modern luxury. The crisp images featuring Paolo Anchisi, Tyler Riggs, Berthold Rothas, Yuri Pleskun, Clement Chabernaud, Francisco Lachowski, Simon Nessman, Marcel Castenmiller, Max Motta, Michael Wozniak, Taylor Fuchs, Brad Alphonso, Niels Raabe, Mathias Bergh, Ian O’Brien, Laurent Albucher, Matthew Coatsworth, Brett Reeves, Mark Cox and Rodrigo Calazans are the perfect tribute to Dolce’s 20 years of menswear.

Wilderness Retreat

June 7th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Steven Meisel and Marie-Amelie Sauve take readers into dystopian territory with a daring editorial for Vogue Italia. Eva Herzigova, Tanga Moreau, Cole Mohr, Yuri Pleskun, Will Lewis, Eliza Cummings, Berthold Rothas and Valerija Kelava, star as a set of wilderness survivalists dressed for a worst case scenario. The engaging story presents a unique take on pre-fall’s luxury, with some of the most exquisite designer clothes styled to look like tattered rags, Marie-Amelie’s talent as a stylist is once again on display and so is Pat McGrath‘s skill with a makeup brush. Meisel’s versatility shines through as well; think of how different this is from last month’s VI glamour fest.

Brad Kroenig anchors a stellar cast of modeling veterans and exciting new faces in the latest issue of Vogue China Men. Rising star photographer Blair Getz Mezibov creates a moody atmosphere where you can almost smell the salt air on the season’s nautically inspired pieces styled by Marcus Teo. Chad White, Ryan Koning, Seijo Imazaki, Simon Tham, Zack Clark, Marc G, Yuri Pleskun and Rob Thurston are the gorgeous crew and join Scott Jordan as the Captain who of course prevails in the end.

Yes Marie-Amelie Sauve is genius… Sans Artifice agrees too.

Here’s a link to Golden Globe winner, Mo’Nique who dedicates her award to victims of child abuse. “”The number of victims who never reveal their secret or who wait many years to do so is very high. This is regrettable because the longer they wait to reveal the abuse, the harder and more enduring the consequences will be.”

Marc Madness

June 23rd, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Juergen Teller always thinks outside the box. The latest Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign eschews traditional glam in favor of a basement gym and the laid-back cool of Yuri Pleskun. The almost mundane image is an engaging showcase for both Yuri’s charm and the casual look of Jacobs’ clothes.
