First Look : Glass

January 11th, 2013 |Posted by Janelle

The newest issue of Glass Magazine focuses on joy, an upbeat theme that is well represented by the editorials within. Don’t expect pages full of models grinning ear to ear (though Nimue Smit does look elated in many of her shots) instead readers are treated to a series of elegant editorials that showcase the beauty of fashion without frippery. Readers will notice a lack of over the top set ups and outlandish concepts, but they’re sure to appreciate the timeless charm of beautiful girls, handsome boys and a wealth of the season’s best designs.

First Look: Stockholm S/S/A/W

May 8th, 2012 |Posted by Janelle

With four gorge covers shot by Kai Z Fengstyled by Tom Van Dorpe, and art directed by Jakob Hysén Hedberg, the latest issue of  Stockholm S/S/A/W Magazine packs an instantaneous punch. The stark yet elegant shots of Aline WeberNimue SmitShu Pei and Hailey Clauson are haunting and beautiful – not to mention a nice change from all the over-saturated colors we’ve been seeing on covers lately. Inside the content is top notch, with new stories from photography’s young guard featuring a selective edit of stylish pieces chosen by Oscar Lange. We’re particularly partial to those menswear looks on the back of Frida Gustavsson, but take a look inside Stockholm S/S/A/W yourself with our preview.

The Sun God

April 22nd, 2010 |Posted by contributor

The sun is back and it’s that time of the year when our favorite magazines are pushing eyewear. These accessories are as essential as the clothes themselves with more and more campaigns dedicated especially to them. Here’s a peek at Nimue Smit for Giorgio Armani, Constance Jablonski for cK Calvin Klein, Freja Beha Erichsen for Chanel, Anna Jagodzinska for David Yurman, and of course Madonna in her eyewear capsule collection for D&G. My personal favorite for S/S10? The Tom Ford Nikita in tortoise shell shown on Jacquelyn Jablonski, by William Selden for Another Magazine S/S10. What’s your must have eyewear accessory of the season? (Story by Kristen Bolt)

Dutch Masters

September 29th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Modeling moves in cycles and every few seasons it seems as though there is another set of great girls hailing from a new place. This season is all about stunning Dutch girls and it is easy to see why. Who better to embody the classicism and straightforward prettiness that defines the current look than the beauties of the Netherlands? As established Dutch models like Lara Stone and Ymre Stiekema lead the pack a host of new faces have been steadily gaining prominence these past few seasons, here is a crash course in the Dutch faces to watch.

pat

Patricia van der Vliet : With a Prada exclusive and a super selective New York season under her belt, Patricia is definitely a face to watch for Paris. Wouldn’t her perfect proportions and cool beauty look just right at Lanvin or YSL?

mirte

Mirte Maas : The stunning Mirte has a slot on the Top 10 Newcomers list and has made appearances at Prada, Calvin Klein and every other runway worth talking about. Add in the early editorial buzz and you’ve got a superstar in the making.

bregje

Bregje Heinen : As one of the MVPs of Milan, Bregje is poised to repeat her success in Paris. Though she’s got enviable proportions and a walk that just wont quit, special attention must be payed to that undeniably beautiful face. Pillow lips, an icy blue stare and the kind of sensuality that makes beauty contract dreams come true.

nicola

Nicola Haffmans : With her distinctive feline look and womanly allure, Nicola was among the stars of London Fashion week. Luella, Christopher Kane, Pringle – if there was a hip London runway she was on it. The sleek edge that blew London away will definitely impress Paris.

lisanne1

Lisanne de Jong : Alexander Wang enthusiast and Prada exclusive, Lisanne is a former Model of the Week. Her natural beauty and engaging personality make her stand out from the pack of lanky blondes. Paris should provide nothing but excitement as we can easily envision Lisanne on the most directional runways.

nimue

Nimue Smit : Though she’s only been in the game for a few seasons the enchanting Nimue is already a star in her own right. Prada campaign? Check. Vogue Italia? Check. Another flawless season? Naturally.

annad

Anna de Rijk : Anna has been on a roll since her Prada exclusive last season. With strong editorial work and impeccable seasons in each and every market there is really no stopping this regal classic beauty.

nicole

Nicole Hofman : Quality is better than quantity, with a debut at Burberry that set tongues wagging Nicole Hofman placed herself on the fast track for success. After showing up at Prada looking lovely this very fresh face is all but gauranteed to have an interesting Paris season. Expect to see her on only the most exclusive runways.

A Mighty Wind

July 27th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

You can almost feel the cool breeze when you look at Steven Meisel‘s shots for Alberta Ferretti. The windswept campaign features Madisyn Ritland, Dorothea Barth Jorgensen, Viktoriya Sosonkina and Nimue Smit lounging in a library as the books blow by. All the girls look elegant in Ferretti’s chic creation and the wind motif makes for a unique visual.

24 Hour Party People

June 8th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

The nightlife scene of early 80s New York was a playground for club kids and jet setters alike and this month Steven Meisel recreates the fun for Vogue Italia. With Meghan Collison, Dorothea Barth Jorgensen, Julia Hafstrom, Nimue Smit, Lucas R, Sara Blomqvist, Marcel Castenmiller, Daniel Hicks & Anna de Rijk playing party goers and Karl Templer‘s authentic Reagan-era styling were in for a wonderfully retro ride. Granted, 1980s references have been done to death but there is something appealingly lighthearted about the youthful cast and their vibrant energy that enlivens every shot.

Craig’s List Reloaded

May 18th, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Even more McDean goodness for all to enjoy! Karlie Kloss, Amanda Laine, Sigrid Agren, Imogen Morris-Clarke, Dorothea Barth Jorgensen, Viktoriya Sasonkina, Nimue Smit and many more band together for W. Last week we previewed Sigrid’s portion of the story but there is plenty more where that came from. Since no fashion story is complete without a touch of drama, rumor has it that a good portion of the the cast of this showstopper was left on the cutting room floor. Which models would you have liked to have seen ala McDean?
