First Look: Details’ Supermodels

February 4th, 2014 |Posted by jonathanshia

The big March issues are making their way onto newsstands this week, and now Details has entered the fray with a guaranteed winner. Those who complain about the dearth of models on magazine covers will surely be cheered by the sight of not one, not two, not even three, but ten of today’s biggest superstars shot by celebrity photographer Mark Seliger (New York: Management + Artists, Paris: Management + Artists). Casting director Edward Kim gathered Garrett Neff, Clement Chabernaud, Noah Mills, Tyson Ballou, RJ Rogenski, Andres Velencoso Segura, Mathias Lauridsen, Arthur Kulkov, Simon Nessman, and Sean O’Pry for an iconic group shot that expands across a triple fold out. Dressed by Benjamin Sturgill, the ten are shown in some of spring’s sharpest pieces, and the accompanying feature within finds them surrounded by the buzzing lights of a classic New York night. Vanity Fair can have Julia Roberts and George Clooney; we’ll take these guys any day. (Images exclusively for models.com courtesy of Details, for video and more, go to Details.com)

Hero Worship

November 5th, 2013 |Posted by jonathanshia

Famed photographer Guy Aroch may be best-known for his stunning shots of gorgeous girls, but he proves himself just as talented with the guys in a stellar new editorial from the latest issue of HERO Magazine, featuring superstars Clément Chabernaud and Mathias Lauridsen suffused in Aroch’s trademark lambent glow. Styled by Gro Curtis, the two legends wear the season’s top collections, from Balenciaga and Lanvin to Louis Vuitton and Dior Homme, adding an upscale twist to the softly rundown cabin that serves as the relaxed and quiet backdrop. The rich, gorgeous portraits have an intimate feel, with Chabernaud and Lauridsen caught in lost moments of thought, the perfect instants passing by in the fading light of day.

First Look: Hercules ❤ New York

September 26th, 2013 |Posted by jonathanshia

The heavyweight Spanish menswear magazine Hercules Universal is no stranger to the long-distance haul, having devoted previous issues to far-flung locales like China and South Africa. The Fall 2013 issue finds itself a bit closer to home, focusing on the vibrant energy of the world’s capital, New York City. Several of the most talented photographers and stylists working today join forces in the eclectic stories, which showcase the beautiful Fall collections against the backdrop of the ever-changing city. Polish photographer Maciek Kobielski‘s stark black-and-white cover story features the Dane Mathias Lauridsen styled by Swede Zara Zachrisson and Darcy Backlar (Paris: Management + Artists, New York: Management + Artists), all of whom, like many in these pages—and countless immigrants before them— now call New York home. David Agbodji takes a star turn with an uptown elegance in Bruno Staub (De Facto)’s gorgeous feature styled by Miguel Arnau. Sean O’Pry brings his timeless cool to the city streets in Txema Yeste‘s contemplative story with styling by Francesco Sourigues.

The rest of the roster is equally strong, with newer faces like Dominik Bauer, Tidiou M’Baye, O’Shea Robertson and Louis Steyaert taking their places alongside seasoned pros like Clement Chabernaud, Marcel Castenmiller, Miles McMillan—and a few veterans like RJ Rogenski and Aiden Shaw—in features lensed by Giampaolo Sgura, Carlotta Manaigo, Ben Weller, Axel Lindahl, and Zachary Hadley. The rich stories offer small peeks into the city’s bustling diversity, proof that even a lifelong New Yorker can always find something new and exciting just around the corner.

World Cup

What could be more exciting than many of the world’s top male models posing for VMan? It just may be all of them getting together getting for tomorrow’s Male Model World Cup sponsored by the mag. Some top faces scheduled to kick off the event: Mathias Lauridsen, Simon Nessman, Danny Schwarz, Oraine Barrett and many more (see full list below). We chatted with VMan editor Jacob Brown and found out the inspiration.

“I came up with this idea actually at Mathias Lauridsen’s birthday dinner. He was telling me about the league soccer he plays, and how so many of the guys are also very serious soccer players—a lot of them are from Europe and have played all their lives. One of us made a joke like, “Oh wouldn’t it be funny if there was a big tournament where all the models competed.” And then I realized that it would actually be a perfect event for VMAN to host. So Mathias and I started putting it together. He’s sort of the chairman of the tournament and has helped get the players together with the agencies. And Hummel, which is an athletic gear company from his home country of Denmark, hooked us up with uniforms and everything. We are shooting the tournament tomorrow of course, and we will be running photos of the winning team in the next VMAN. Stephen Gan and I are really excited about this tournament and plan on making the Male Model World Cup a yearly event!

Gorgeous, athletic and sweaty men… Doesn’t get better than that.

Fairy Tale

April 14th, 2010 |Posted by Janelle

Nicola Formichettis outlandish styling drives Benjamin Alexander Huseby‘s dreamy story for VMan. The fantastical tale features powerhouses Mathias Lauridsen and Rie Rasmussen wearing unusual headdresses and some of fall’s most daring runway looks. Both Rie and Mathias are posing pros and their animated expressions make the story even more enjoyable.

Five & Dime

September 21st, 2009 |Posted by Janelle

Camilla Akrans delves into the classic mystique of James Dean for Numero Homme, enlisting none other than Mathias Lauridsen to capture the sensuality and grace behind Dean’s lasting mystique. The role seems made for Mathias and he nails it in each and every shot. It’s amazing how eerily similar some of Akran’s pictures are to Roy Schatt’s famous torn shirt portraits of Dean are.
