First Look: The Greatest Fall 2015

October 5th, 2015 |Posted by jonathanshia

For the new Fall/Winter 2015 issue, menswear magazine The Greatest takes as its theme heroes of all sorts, starting from the supremely graceful and athletic star ballet dancer Roberto Bolle, who graces the cover shot by Francesco Brigida and styled by Matteo Greco. A powerhouse lineup of models stars in the main fashion story within by Alessandro Dal Buoni and Greco, from longtime favorites like Ben Allen, Laurie Harding, and Tim Schuhmacher to newer faces Piero Mendez, Matt Doran, Charlie James, and Max Barczak in a youthful take on the season’s idiosyncratic designs. Robbie McKinnon finds himself in expressive sportswear on the beach in a feature by Paolo Zerbini and Greco, while breakout faces George Koh and Lucas Satherley are found in suiting lounging in a sparse field photographed by Clare Shilland and styled by Hanna Kelifa. Mark Kean and Jérôme André contribute a thoughtful vision of fresh youth, and the same quiet introspection can be seen in an accompanying short film, directed by Luca De Santis and starring Florian DesBiendras and Carolina Gonzales. Interviews with Italo Zucchelli of Calvin Klein, Paul Smith, and Bolle’s fellow ballet legend Marie-Agnès Gillot round out the issue, a reminder that there is never a shortage of talents to look up to. Take an exclusive first look at the issue, out today, below.

Miuccia’s World

June 19th, 2015 |Posted by steven.yatsko

One can imagine Miuccia Prada’s world “for the slightly disenfranchised” is filled with characters of an uncanny quality. In her designs there’s that murmur of jolie laide that fine-tunes weirdness and statement to resemble the regular (maybe it’s Miuccia’s mime training at work). Her fidelity to art-house actors has filled Prada and, the younger, more capricious, Miu Miu‘s campaigns regularly with a cinephile’s dream ensemble. The Italian empress has pulled from the silver screen A-list talent like James McAvoy, Dane Dehaan, Marine Vacth, and Elle Fanning for previous seasons and A/W 15 is true to form: Craig McDean lensed Scoot McNairy, Michael Shannon, and Tye Sheridan all uniformed in Prada menswear. The Miu Miu campaign photographed by Steven Meisel, entitled “Subjective Reality”, puts Maddison Brown, Hailey Gates, Mia Goth, Stacy Martin on the streets of New York City done up in Miu Miu wares. The images feature brand favorites and leads in Von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac”  Mia and Stacy. See both campaigns below.

Bambi Northwood Blyth by Annie Wilshaw.

There may be no other male model search as successful as the VMan/Ford collaboration (take a look at what the past winners have been doing). Their new search has begun and the winner gets a shoot with the incredible Steven Klein, styled by Nicola Formichetti. We just might be a tad jealous. (Search ends March 1st)

Lancome signs Arlenis

September 5th, 2008 |Posted by Betty

From WWD: “Lancome has added an up-and-comer to its stable of spokesmodels: Arlenis Sosa, a 19-year-old former student discovered in her home country of the Dominican Republic this past April.

“Arlenis possesses beauty, intelligence, charm and compassion,” said Odile Roujol, president of Lancôme. “All of our brand ambassadors share these attributes, so we knew she would be a wonderful addition. We are very proud to welcome her to the Lancôme family.”

Sosa was discovered on her way to a college class by a designer, who sent a shot of her to Marilyn Agency’s Peter Cedeño. She arrived in the U.S. this spring, and signed with the Marilyn Agency.
